Job Description

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Primary Responsibilities
  • Delivering the complete fabrication package as per Project schedule.
  • Conforming Bechtel Standard procedures to Project Requirements, Quality and ensuring their implementation
  • Provides technical direction and assigns work to subordinate engineers, designers, drafters, technicians and others who assist in performing specific assignments.
  • Supporting in planning and reporting

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Knowledge of Detail Engineering Deliverables and understanding of the complete work process including all the tools proposed to be used.
  • Planning, co-ordination and maintaining of project schedule of Drafting Teams including tracking and controlling of man-hours spent
  • Co-ordination with Bechtel Home Office (CSA team) for any interface queries and its timely resolution
  • Propagation and model management of Tekla models into SP3D for interface of Structural Steel to other disciplines using customized tools developed by Bechtel office including final clash check.
  • Should be able to respond to fabricators queries and manage tracking list.
  • Assists designers in checking of 3D models and drawings prepared in S3D/Tekla/AutoCAD, and in determining drafting expression and arrangement of components.
  • Provides technical guidance to connection design engineers and drafting personnel in developing connections and preparation of drawings.
  • Assists in the development of basic layout drawings for civil/structural data or other purposes to be used in working drawings.
  • Assists in computer-related activities, such as preparing input data and using computer programs for computerized solution of technical problems including the use of CAD Systems for drawing preparation.
  • Assists in the development and updating of flow charts for planning and scheduling team members.
  • Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, or constructability.
  • Coordinate assigned work with other technical personnel as required.
  • Ensures the provision of on-the-job-training of assigned personnel and provides input for their performance evaluations.
  • Oversees the process for technical reviews of contractors, shop drawings, product data, material samples, etc.
  • Reviews and checks work of subordinate designers and detailers.
  • Ensures Engineering Quality

JOB KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of drafting, engineering techniques and calculations, familiarity with applications of computers to engineering problems.
  • Good skills in oral and written communication.
  • Specialized courses in a technical field, working in Steel fabrication shop/yard or Practical work experience to the degree necessary to perform the responsibilities outlined above.
  • Understanding of Engineering Department Procedures, relevant Bechtel design guides. Broad knowledge of the application of engineering to plant constructability as applied to construction methods and materials and Codes including of OSHA.
  • Understanding of engineering planning and control methods including computerized methods.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma /ITI Draftsman (in Civil) and 20+ years of experience in leading, preparing and checking of CSA related deliverables in office of repute.
  • Minimum four years as Detailing lead.
  • Should have exposure to design office practices using computer aided drafting and 3D modeling tools. Proficiency in use of 3D Structural Modeling software like Tekla, SP3D, Micro-station, SPR, AutoCAD etc. is essential.
