Job Description

    Data Engineer IIAcross Expedia Group there are millions of pieces of feedback being generated by our Customers (Travelers and Partners) and no central location to access this. Expedia Group has a large mix of ways to capture, interrupt and action this feedback, with 20 tools being used to just collect feedback.There is an opportunity to provide a unified approach that help us unlock more of what our customer are saying while reducing complexity and cost. As an engineer of the CFM team, you will do design and development of a system that is event driven, simple to implement, easy to consume, highly performant.What youll do:Technology stack you will be working on big data technologies like Spark, Kafka, Hive, Airflow , Kstream etc.Develop batch and real- time stream and data processing pipelinesApply software design principles, data structures and/or design patterns and computer science fundamentals to write code that is clean, maintainable, optimised, modular with good naming conventionsUnderstand the product goals and objective, design and architecture and come up with improvement suggestionDevelop and test standard software applications and related programs and procedures to ensure they meet design requirementsProactively reach out to meet peers across environment and collaborate to solve problemsTake advantage of opportunities to build new technical expertise in a specific engineering areaEngage in communication with team members and stakeholders both verbally and in writing on technology and design considerations and status of work itemsWho you are :3 to 5 years of data engineering experienceStrong in Spark, Java/Scala & SQL and have a moderate familiarity of other applicable languagesUnderstanding of HTTP and RESTful web services is a plusCommunicate effectively about highly technical and complex concepts in a way that is tailored to your audienceAbout Expedia GroupExpedia Group (NASDAQ: EXPE) powers travel for everyone, everywhere through our global platform.
