Job Description

  • Participate in infrastructure and system design of the NCR Data Lake on Hortonworks HDP and HDF distributions.
  • Gain deep technical expertise in Hadoop administration.
  • Assist in automating administration processes such as cluster builds (on-premise and cloud), identity management, access management, etc.
  • Provide support, on-going maintenance, and required modifications to multiple Hadoop environments.
  • Assist in implementation of HA and DR policies for NCR Data lake.
  • Participate in an on-call support rotation.
  • Assist in POC/software assessments as we bring new tools into the enterprise

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
    • Good understanding of distributed computing and big data architectures.
    • Experience (3-5 years) in Hadoop administration
    • Experience (3-5 years) in Unix/Linux(RHEL) administration and shell scripting.
    • Proficient in at least one programming language like Java, Python, Go, etc.
    • Experience working with public clouds like Azure, AWS, etc.
    • DevOps: Appreciates the CI and CD model and always builds to ease consumption and monitoring of the system. Experience with Maven (or Gradle or SBT) and Git preferred.
    • Personal qualities such as creativity, tenacity, curiosity, and passion for deep technical excellence.
    • Specialize in data integration (from 100+ source systems in batch, near real-time, and real-time).
    • Specialize in data governance and security of data assets.
    • Participate in collaborative software design and development of the Enterprise Data Lake on Hortonworks HDP and HDF distributions.
    • Manage own learning and contribute to technical skill building of the team.
    • Embrace the engineering mindset and systems thinking.
    • Gain deep technical expertise in the data movement patterns, practices and tools.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef).
    • Familiarity with server virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware), networking concepts (VLANs, routing, firewalls, subnetting), logical volume management, NFS, SNMP, sftp, and SMTP.
