Job Description

ExpediaAs an Engineering Manager, you will be involved in all aspects of software development for your team, including participating in technical designs, implementation, functional analysis, and release for mid-to-large sized projects. You will also be responsible for on-time delivery of features, setting timelines, coaching, and mentoring your team whilst hiring and recruiting. You are comfortable being part of a small, highly visible, tight-knit team and can collaborate closely with product managers, architects, designers and analysts to accomplish your goals.   • Lead the Agile software development phases of various projects across Hotwire s travel platform
  • Lead a medium-sized team of full-stack software engineers
  • Actively mentor software engineers to help them progress in their careers
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to bring to bear the latest technologies, define new platform features and build the technical product backlog
  • Prototype creative solutions quickly and be able to collaborate with others in crafting and implementing your technical vision.
  • Contribute and collaborate in creation and consumption of open, standards-based solutions, while working with existing Expedia technologies and infrastructure.
  • Participate in and lead design and architecture reviews. Build and maintain a long-term vision and technical roadmap as well as negotiate tight timelines to keep key initiatives on schedule.
  • Find opportunities for process and tool improvements and drive those from concept to implementation.
Who you are-You ll fit if you have:
  • Strong technical background with 9 years of relevant experience in technical development and 2 years of technical leadership role as a Lead/Manager for a major feature or product
  • Strong on JavaScript, React, Java, HTML/CSS, AWS, Splunk (or similar monitoring tools), CI/CD
  • Exposure to micro-service, Java, Redis, Oracle, RDS and cloud computing (AWS, Docker, S3) is desirable.
  • Proven track record of shipping high quality products in high load production environments, world-class enterprise and/or ecommerce systems
  • Structured approach to development (measuring, monitoring, and testing) and a deep understanding of object-oriented design
  • Ability to ramp up quickly on new technologies
  • Excellent understanding of development concepts and SDLC methodologies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent experience
