Job Description

What will you do at Ciena The Packet Software and Access (PSA) R&D organization is responsible for delivering platform-independent Service Aware Operating System (SAOS) and Access products to support Mobile Backhaul, Enterprise, NFV and White-box based applications in access and aggregation tiers of the network.Gurgaon R&D center has seen exponential growth in various dimensions including development, test and release planning. In last 6 years, Gurgaon test team has grown to be the largest team across globe having ownership of multiple PSA products/releases. Team has huge state-of-art engineering lab in Gurgaon and real time exposure to Tier-1 service provider network deployments.Framework team charter will be to develop next generation automation frameworks, automation dashboard, develop tools / scripts / templates to improve efficiency / productivity of automation and regression team. Framework team will work closely with Design team, Functional Team, architects, marketing and accounts team to strategize automation framework designs and Dashboard solutions.As part of this team, you will work closely with our back-end development and software design teams to develop functional and appealing interactive web applications for wide range of Ciena s Next Generation products.Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test tools, test frameworks, test scripts, and build systems
  • Design, develop, and maintain software tools and features to assist in automated testing
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Design, develop, and maintain test libraries that interface with test management system and defect tracking system
  • Interface with development and test teams to understand testing requirements, and implement required test tools and tests scripts
  • Contribute to team deliverable through involvement in agile scrum development sprints
  • Interface with technical experts, feature owners, development teams, and test teams to derive Continuous Integration and test automation environments
  • Provide technical direction and guidance, as well as draft specifications, architect solutions, define timelines, advise on industry best practice and problems to be solved
  • Collaborate with back-end developers and web designers to improve usability of Automation dashboard
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders

  • R&D Software and Product Validation teams for Ciena Networking products
  • R & D Scrum masters, Software, automation and manual QA teams
  • Program Line Manager (PLM) and Product Line Architect (PLA)
Experience / Skill Required
  • 9-13 years of experience with BE/B.Tech./M.Tech. (EE/CS) Degree
  • Expertise in developing Automation Frameworks (4+ years)
  • Extensive experience with Python is a must
  • Extensive experience with TCL and Expect is a must
  • Knowledge of code versioning tools, such as Git/SVN (4+ years)
  • Knowledge on L2/L3 Protocols like STP, VLAN, OSPF, MPLS , BGP, etc
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and server-side APIs integration
  • Knowledge of ORM, SQL and Data Modeling is desirable
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Jquery, Angular.js is a plus
  • Knowledge of Ruby is a plus
