Job Description

Project Director Public Health Foundation of India The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is working towards building a healthier India. It is helping to address the limited institutional and systems capacity in India by strengthening education and training, advancing research and technology and facilitating policy and practice in the area of Public Health. PHFI is headquartered in New Delhi with national presence through its constituent units of regional Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and Centers of Applied Research in core public health themes. The Foundation, established in 2006 as a public private initiative, is governed by an independent board comprising of senior government officials, eminent Indian and International academic and leaders, civil society representatives and corporate leaders.Project Brief: The Health Promotion Division of PHFI in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India (MoHFW-GoI) and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is undertaking research study Evaluating Implementation of a Peer Educator Programme for Improving Adolescent Health under India s National Adolescent Health Programme i.e Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) . The study has been approved for funding by Medical Research Council (MRC) and Department for International Development (DFID). The study will provide research evidence needed to effect real and practical changes to improve adolescent health. The lessons learnt from this research would inform scale up of Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) components in India. The study would be undertaken in two states of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.Deliverables:Provide overall project leadership, supervision, management, strategic direction and guidance to the research staff under the project. Develop strategic approaches, research tools, protocols, data management and data analysis protocols and ensure coordination in the implementation of the project activities to meet targeted objectives. Day to Day coordination of research activities with state research teams, NGOs, state government. Supervise data collection in field and ensure strict adherence to research protocols. Supervise data collection agencies on scientific sampling and data collection. Monitor programme activities in the project states and provide supportive supervision. Develop study related documents and study reports for Ethics, partners, advisory committees and government procedures and other administrative purposes. Training data collection teams and manage their day to day operations. Liaison with Investigators in India and at LSHTM for coordinating quantitative and quantitative analysis. Develop study protocols, questionnaires, data collection formats for process evaluation and align quantitative and qualitative components of the study. Data analysis and Manuscript writing in consultation with the Principal Investigator and other co-investigators of this study. Preparing Project Reports and updates for Ethics committee, IPSC funder and other partners. Preparing reports as needed for submission to donor, partners and state governments. Any other task assigned by the supervisor. PhD in public health / Community Medicine and allied fields. Expertise in quantitative and qualitative public health and research data analysis. Around 6-7 years of experience in public health research. Experience in implementation research studies, adolescent health research and programmes. Experience of working closely with senior national and state level government stakeholders and Donors. Excellent writing, editing and overall communication skills. Able to independently handle quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Good grasp and understanding of research designs and evaluation frameworks. Knowledge and experience in process evaluation/Implementation Science Research.
