Job Description

* Senior Cloud Engineer Kubernetes Role DescriptionThe Senior Cloud Engineer mentors other cloud engineers within team, manages and develops for Azure Kubernetes clusters, and they must have experience and knowledge of deploying applications to a Kubernetes cluster as well as managing the Kubernetes infrastructure in Azure cloud.Main Tasks

  • Manage and run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health for Kubernetes clusters
  • Improve reliability, quality, performance, and availability by implementing industry best practices to underlying Kubernetes clusters
  • Measure and optimize system performance and create remediation plans to mitigate any production impacting performance issue withing Kubernetes clusters
  • Review and implement Kubernetes deployment processes and technology to improve overall deployment process quality and timing
  • Implement industry best practice and technology to reduce incidents response time, and incident time resolution time
  • Continuous measurement of the technology stack including recommendations for future road maps
  • Ensure back-up/DR replications are properly processed as scheduled and maintain restoration test cycles to ensure proper back-up and replication are available and working as expected
  • Use existing patterns and Terraform code to deploy and manage landing zones
  • Manage, monitor, and upgrade Azure Kubernetes cluster and supporting services
Required Skills
  • 5+ years Kubernetes Administration
  • Mentorship experience
  • Experience with and knowledge of common Azure or AWS cloud resources
  • Knowledge of cloud networking concepts such as the use of VPCs, IP Subnetting, routing
  • IaC experience (infrastructure as code) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet
  • Kubernetes deployment and management experience
  • Knowledge and experience in using external load balancer controllers (Azure Gateway Ingress Controller, AWS Load Balancer Controller) in Kubernetes
  • Experience in building and maintaining containers
  • Knowledge and experience in workload isolation for a given cluster
  • Knowledge and experience in PVC (persistent volume claims) and StatefulSets
  • Knowledge and experience in Kubernetes application packaging (Helm, Kustomize)
  • Experience in dealing with DR situations in a Kubernetes cluster
  • Experience in managing Kubernetes tools such as;
    • external-dns
    • external load balancer controllers
    • Cluster backup solutions
  • Linux proficiency
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Source code repository setup and management (Git repositories, code branching and merging strategies)
  • Continuous integration concepts and tools (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins)
