Job Description

About the opportunityDepartment DescriptionFinance is a global function at Fidelity International, with close to 300 dedicated employees and offices across 12 locations including UK, Germany, Bermuda, Australia, India and China. The Finance Department supports the management of the business in the achievement of business goals and objectives, and improves shareholder value by ensuring the timeliness, accuracy, integrity, consistency and relevance of financial information, in relation to the business decision-making process.Within Finance, the Investment Management Business Finance team is responsible for providing financial analysis, information, forecasting and insight to senior Investment Management leaders, as well as to the IMLT and other relevant IM management committees.About Investment Solutions & Services (ISS)Investment Management is a part of ISS, which is Fidelity International s asset management business which offers and distributes Fidelity s investment solutions and services to a wide range of wholesale and institutional clients including financial advisers, brokers, banks, insurance companies, wealth managers, third party platforms, pension funds, public authorities and sovereign wealth funds.The ISS business has approximately $400bn in client assets under management and has c. 2,000 full time equivalent members of staff.Purpose of your roleThis role is an excellent opportunity to gain a broad understanding of the Investment Management function and its role in FIL s Financial Services business, and to support the Investment Management Committee members (IMC) who manage the Investment Management function.The successful applicant will be exposed to a large amount of ad hoc analysis over and above regular deliverables and should have the expectation that ad hoc analysis of any part of the IM business can be requested at very short notice. This can include sensitive data. Consequently, there is the expectation that the successful application will be discreet and also be able to respond to complex data requests promptly and to a high standard. A large proportion of the team s activity is focused on:

  • Continuously striving to make our regular reporting as informative as possible.
  • Supplying valuable analysis to support debate and decision-making at IMC and other senior management meetings;
  • Co-ordinating FIL s quarterly budget/forecast process.
  • Management of key data sets to facilitate this reporting.
Key Responsibilities
  • Leading and developing Investment Management business finance team
  • Managing key monthly deliverables for Investment Management - Equity, Fixed Income, Real Estate & Multi-Asset, including cost reporting, headcount reporting, projections, accruals, sub-advisory forecasts and allocations across Europe and Asia;
  • Performing asset reconciliation and maintaining / reviewing the cost of Investment Management model;
  • Designing and delivering the Investment Management franchise view of FIL s P&L and automating its production;
  • Managing the Investment Management structure in various systems and keeping abreast of organisational changes;
  • The preparation of budgets/ forecasts based on discussions with business heads and ensuring accurate & timely submissions;
  • Identifying, designing and implementing process improvement initiatives for increased efficiency;
  • Providing input to the relevant Global Process Owners (GPO) to create efficiencies through cross-region process standardisation;
  • Working with global business finance teams (based in UK, Europe, Asia and India) to facilitate integration across various groups;
  • Working on key initiatives / ad hoc data requests based on business requirements;
  • Relationship building / stakeholder management primarily senior finance and investment management teams across the globe;
  • Acting as a point of contact for assimilating and analysing any management information for the business;
Technical skills
  • Qualified CA/MBA with wide-ranging experience gained in a variety of finance roles.
  • Experience of FP&A / business finance roles (including deep experience of MI, forecasting, business case evaluation and provision of financial analysis) would be a significant advantage.
  • Experience of the asset management industry would be an advantage.
  • Highly accomplished communicator, particularly strong English language writing skills and experience of writing financial commentary for senior stakeholder consumption.
  • High level of attention to detail yet also able to see the big picture.
  • Strong analytical skills, proven ability to assimilate large and complex data sets and distill and articulate key facts or themes for senior management consideration.
  • Pro-active self-starter, able to multi-task and prioritise under pressure.
  • Collaborative operating style with a focus on working together with others to achieve great outcomes for the business as well as recognition for all those contributing to the team s success.
  • Able to command high levels of respect from stakeholders and peers.
  • Ability to influence, challenge and negotiate when operating in a matrix environment.
  • High degree of comfort in reviewing, designing and improving processes.
  • Highly proficient in use of Microsoft Office packages, including Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
  • Knowledge of Essbase, HFM, OBIEE, Tableau, Anaplan and JDE would be an advantage.
