Job Description

Expedia Software Dev Engineer III (DevOps)At Expedia our mission is to revolutionize travel through the power of technology. Our E-Commerce Checkout team is looking for an experienced, energetic and self-motivated Software Development Engineer to help us do just that.Sitting at the sharp end of the conversion funnel our Checkout platform processes millions of bookings a week from customers across the globe using any one of our 40 localized websites or our award-winning mobile app. It s an exciting time to join the team as we re setting about building the next generation of our platform using modern frameworks such as GraphQL and microservices-based architecture.Join us and you ll be helping build a best in class customer-facing web application, solving hard problems at scale and part of mission-critical software with a direct impact on the bottom line.   • Design innovative services that solve complex infrastructure problems at scale.
  • Build foundational tools that enable teams to operate their services safely and securely.
  • Develop best practices and solutions that ensure operational excellence and use your influence to drive adoption across software teams.
  • Provide support and consultation for service/network architectures, production incidents, and operational activities.
Who you areTo thrive in this role, you need
  • 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • A record of continued growth with ever-increasing responsibilities in previous roles.
  • The savvy to communicate effectively to all audiences, from executives to engineers.
  • A collaborative spirit with the ability to work across disciplines to influence, learn, and deliver.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and mentor others.
  • A deep understanding of computer science, software development, and networking principles.
  • Extensive experience with Linux administration and engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience with scripting languages, such as Python, Bash, Perl, JavaScript, etc.
  • Experience building Continuous Delivery solutions with tools such as Jenkins, Chef, Ansible, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or other relevant Cloud Infrastructure solutions like Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud.
  • Travel and/or other e-commerce experience is a plus.
