Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • On-customer premise or from Ciena s Customer Demo Lab support SE&I deliverables for the Demo/Certification of the Ciena s Packet Networking product family in conjunction with the Ciena Network management platform (Blue Planet)
  • Test Ciena s Ethernet capabilities to assess product performance, scalability and security.
  • Lead the troubleshooting (collecting data and observations) and the resolution by working with R&D resources to address raised customer issues.
  • Ensure customer is updated regularly on all issues during the testing.
  • Support upgrades and installation of system hardware updates as required, as well as reconfiguration of test networks.
  • Translate customer requirements into workable solutions.
  • Bring observations and requirements to the R&D team for product enhancement
  • Develop trusted working relationship with customer.
  • Support Sales Engineers in pre-sales activities, answering technical questions or providing technical presentations
  • Support deployment and post-sales support teams as required
Desired Skills / Characteristics
  • Hands-on experience engineering, testing or deploying networks on Ethernet-based platforms (Ciena, Nokia, Cisco, Juniper, Huawei, Adva )
  • Working knowledge of packet networking related technologies (IP/MPLS, MPLS-TP &TE, Sync-E, QinQ, 1588V2, TDM etc.)
  • Knowledge of various Customer Services [VPN, L3VPN, L2VPN, 6PE, 6VPE, VRF-Lite along with domains such as Segment Routing, RSVP , LDP etc] and requirements [Mobile xHaul, 3G/4G/LTE/5G, Ethernet Business Services, SDH replacement etc.]
  • Experience with Network Management platforms, configuration and troubleshooting
  • Highly self-motivated team player with ability to collaborate and interact with cross-functional organizations both within Ciena and with our customers
  • Meticulously execute test plans or method of procedure while thoroughly documenting results in a comprehensive matter
  • Utilize advanced test methodologies and troubleshooting techniques
  • Multitasking and adaptability to changing project, priorities and market demands.
Education / Experience
  • MS in CS/EE/CE with 10 years experience or BS in CS/EE/CE with 12 years experience.
  • Minimum 8 years in telecommunications related industry .
  • Experience in working Telecom Product Vendor (SDLC/Testing etc) along with exposure to Operations & management in Service provider network will be preferred .
  • Excellent communications, presentation & interpersonal skills a must .
