Job Description

  • CIENAs Packet Optical products portfolio comprises of a broad family of products for Aggregation, Metro and Core Optical networks. Successful candidate for the role of SVT/PV Engineer will be responsible for developing feature and solution test strategies, test plans, and test execution for Ciena s Packet Optical products based on technologies such as Layer 2/Layer 3 Networking protocols , L3 Routing Protocols & Network security protocols .
Responsibilities include:
  • Review System requirements & Functional specifications and develop comprehensive solution test plans to validate customer use-cases and detailed feature test plans to validate product capabilities.
  • Plan and build test environments for feature and solution level test execution while considering potential and likely interactions across different features of the product
  • Ability to write Test plan & Execute test cases, analyze test results, file defect reports & retest defect resolution.
  • Contribute towards automation of test cases and execute already automated test cases.
  • Conduct knowledge sharing sessions on Moderate to complex topics, including smaller protocol or RFC related information, specific functional area presentations.
  • Plan, organize and coordinate a team of verification engineers for delivery of work assignments.
  • Build in-depth knowledge of product architecture and develop ability to root-cause issues
  • Coordinate activities with North America test and development teams on a need basis.
Required Skills:
  • Position requires sound knowledge of Network Security Protocols along with L2/L3 routing concepts, IPv4/IPv6 & COMMS.
  • Good understanding of Networking protocols such as VLANS, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, ICMP, ARP, ISIS, NTP, NAT and L3VPN.
  • Good understanding of Automation to take care of feature test execution & debugging skills to do test execution using Automation along with Manual testing. Experience in the automation of TCL/Python-based library and test cases.
  • Hands on experience with Cisco & Juniper Routers is plus.
  • Test Experience working with NBI Protocols like Netconf, gRPC & REST API.
Soft Skills :
  • Good communications skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate/collaborate in multisite environment .
  • Strong analytical and good communication skill to work in multisite environment.
  • proficient troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Team oriented; strong inter-personal skills and ability to understand customers needs, expectations and perspective
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask on multiple projects

Required Experience:
  • BE /B.Tech (EE/CS) Degree
  • 6 years of relevant experience of system test in telecommunications domain.
