Technical Specialist- Oracle + Python

Job Description

This position is for an experienced agile technical lead to focus on delivery of new business functionality and enablement of less experienced colleagues in a development team of approximately 10 people. The role is a crucial part of the Performance team and is critical to enable us to deliver high quality systems to the business more quickly.The successful candidate will be able to provide their expertise in building and laying down a robust foundation for major initiatives and also help in reducing the risk of missing the deadlines. The role demands an expert technical lead who has a great in-depth functional knowledge of Performance and Attribution along with good knowledge on key tools and technologies that we are using, an attitude of innovation, automation, and doing the right thing.The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Manager and the Architect assigned to the project/ development team. The development teams are approximately 8-10 people with 6-8 developers each.Key Responsibilities

• Working with the Architects to understand and implement the proposed solution.
• Working with the Business Analyst to understand the functional requirements.
• Working with the team to collaborate on estimating of development effort based on proposed solution
• Delivery business functionality quickly, efficiently and to a high quality
• Raising the productivity and quality of development teams by promoting agile practices and sharing skills through mentoring and/or pairing.

Your skills and experience

• Essential skills

• Technical
  • A minimum of 6-9 years of hands on system software analysis, development and testing using Oracle PL-SQL, Python, Perl and Unix, Control-M
  • Knowledge of essential Software Engineering principles.
  • Strong knowledge of Relational Databases Management Systems (RDBMS) concepts.
  • Python (& Pandas) hands on knowledge and strong scripting skills
  • Oracle hands-on knowledge: E.g.: PLSQL, Triggers, reusable function and Oracle Query Performance Tuning
  • Understand a data warehousing solution and able to work independently in such an environment. Developing a warehouse is good to have.
  • Experience in database performance tuning
  • Hands-on experience of database development environments and tools such as SQLPlus, TOAD, SQL Developer
  • Project development and delivery experience of a few good size projects
  • Good Operating Systems knowledge and associated commands (UNIX [AIX/Solaris], MS Windows).
  • Experience of Source Control Tools such as Svn.
  • Passion for technology, engineering, problem solving and team working

• Functional

• Functional knowledge on Investment Performance and Attribution is an added advantage
• Ability to work closely with cross functional teams
• Knowledge of Mutual funds/ financial domain is an added advantage
• Candidate should have knowledge of Financial Services Industry (BFSI) preferably in Mutual Fund and Investment Management industry, Portfolio Management, Holdings related processing
