Job Description

Completes trademark research reports:

  • Analyzes research requests and develops an effective search strategy based on trademark, goods similarity, and international classifications, as well as product scope.
  • Formulates queries using various search engines such as Google and CompuMark proprietary databases, to retrieve pertinent references that show potentially confusing or infringing uses of device and word trademarks, domain names, and/or business names.
  • Analyzes data retrieved and selects the most pertinent references for inclusion on trademark research reports for delivery to customers.
  • Works with mentors to ensure research approach results in high quality trademark research reports.
  • Provides internal feedback and recommendations to management on opportunities to improve quality or processes.
  • Completes trademark research reports or other assignments in a timely manner according to the turnaround schedule promised to the customer or internal deadline.

Completes trademark data editing:

  • Prepares and edits trademark records by applying indexing to the design and word elements of trademark records being created or updated.
  • Proofreads trademark data editing where necessary to ensure accuracy of data entry
  • Assists in the downloading of data from external sources (PTO databases and other trademark industry sources) and prepares this information for input into CompuMark databases
  • Delivers high quality trademark records by ensuring completeness, proper data structure, and timeliness of trademark record updates
  • Provides internal feedback to management on opportunities to improve data quality or processes.
  • Assists in resolving routine data entry and system problems

Successfully completes applicable training to learn all job-relevant systems and information which may include: Trademark Fundamentals, Introduction to Products, Overview of the Customers, Search and Watch Hit Selection, Query Strategy, Introduction to OPSi, Web Analyst Training, Device and Trademark indexing training, Introduction to CompuMark applications such as TIPSi, IRIS, Web204, M204, and other production systems, and other specialized database/process training.

Manage large scale/global trademark related projects on behalf of clients, including co-coordinating with external partners, checking results for consistency and generating project reports. These projects may include recordal/assignment programs, global clearance searches and trademark record validation. . Consult with internal and external clients with requests that fall outside of standard products and services. Detail and define project requirements in statement of work documents. Coordinate resources needed to execute professional services projects. Conduct pilots to confirm proof of concept, provide sample reports, and deliver results. Take ownership to work with clients, associates and internal resources to develop and deliver creative solutions.

May provide customer service support through the following means:

  • Answers internal questions regarding trademark research report results to colleagues internally via written communication, in person, or over the phone
  • Follows through on client inquiries with the appropriate Team Leader, Manager and/or other appropriate department/team member.
  • Manages daily production including completing all assigned trademark research tasks according to expected delivery time frame
