Job Description

  • The Business Intelligence Analyst will be someone who is experienced in leveraging technology in order to provide insights. The ideal candidate will merge disparate data and develop actionable insights through the use of business intelligence tools . The role is expected to mine and analyze data to support key business initiatives. The position will need to be proficient in the use of databases, macros, SQL, data modeling and using business intelligence reporting tools (such as Business Objects, Tableau, AlterYX etc.).
What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Business Intelligence Analyst
  • Have the ability to understand and analyze new data (for which we do not have expertise at present) for the purpose of identifying trends and providing insights to the business units. Clearly communicate and drive discussions on data, insights, context and implications with business and technology partners.
  • Should be proficient in analyzing large amount of structured/unstructured data and deriving concise and insightful data which could be used by various stakeholders.
  • Assist with the creation, research, analysis and development of business/system requirements from business owners and subject matter experts to facilitate easy data mapping between legacy and enterprise systems
  • Develop and maintain data requirements for all Global Product Strategy initiatives
  • Possess working knowledge and expertise with regard to databases and collaborate with business and technology teams to implement the enterprise vision and data management standards within the organization
  • Possess the ability to identify and resolve data issues systematically.
  • Collaborate with other business intelligence analysts and engineers around data structure in order to optimize use.
  • Research data quality issues through detailed analysis, data profiling and data mining. Understand how data flows into BI tools and be able to find solutions for challenges as they arise.
  • Intermediate to advanced SAS, SQL programming skills to develop programs to analyze industry trends and insights.
  • Designs and implements process improvements and workflows to improve data quality and provide timely, accurate and complete insights to the business unit.
  • Leverage knowledge of databases and business intelligence tools to improve the accuracy of models, reports and forecasts for both routine and non-routine projects.
  • Have a strong understanding of data visualization tools and best practices. Extract data from appropriate sources in a complex warehousing environment.
  • Become a subject matter expert across the spectrum of both retail and institutional funds in both the US and Internationally.
  • Apply acquired subject matter expertise to derive analysis and business perspective on behalf of our internal partners including our wider Global Product Strategy team, distribution and Sr. Management of Franklin Templeton Investments
  • Work closely with clients (as mentioned above) on a daily basis to ensure analyses are appropriate and analyze current methodologies and offer alternative solutions.
  • Develop strong working relationships with our business partners throughout Global Product Strategy group and the company.
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be Successful
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Business or Information Technology (Tier 1 or 2 Institutions)
  • or equivalent combination of education or experience
  • Typically has 3-5 years related experience
  • Finance service domain/ Mutual Funds
  • Equivalent Database certifications
  • Strong knowledge on SQL, Marcos and Business Intelligence tools (Business Objects, Microstrategy, etc.), visualization tools (Tableau, etc.), Power BI, Alterxy and SAS. Good to have knowledge on DateLake and Hive.
