macOS makes up the largest portion of our fleet of client machines with over 35,000 endpoints. You will be a member of our macOS focused team working on provisioning, maintaining, and securing the macOS environment for all Salesforce employees. You should be comfortable using modern macOS deployment and management technologies like Apple s Device Enrollment Program(DEP) for provisioning and mobile device management(MDM) tools(like JAMF, AirWatch, or Intune) to deploy configuration profiles and settings.Salesforce values trust and security highly and will expect you and your peers in Client Engineering Operations to work with our security and vulnerability management partners to ensure our machines are secure and compliant. You should be familiar with ways to package and deploy patches and updates to macOS endpoints using popular patching tools(things like JAMF, Munki, or Apple SUS).Documentation is a critical component of how we run our business as well and we ll expect you to document your work as well as consume and validate the documentation of your team.QUALIFICATIONSYou are going to have to interact with a lot of people with differing levels of technical acumen as well as differing specialities and technical requirements. Some users may be remote or in vastly different time zones. You should be comfortable adjusting your communication and negotiation strategies to be appropriate for the audience in front of you. Sometimes that will be a provisioning technician who can t get a machine to finish provisioning successfully, but it could also mean a manager or director is asking for a higher level understanding of an active incident to pass on to our IT leadership.Since this role is going to be on our macOS team, you will need to be familiar with JAMF Pro(formerly JAMF Casper Suite). We use JAMF to manage our fleet of Macs and you will be using it most every day to perform your job duties. We re supportive of personal development through training and will do our best to get you the necessary training to improve your skills here to progress your career. We expect a high level of familiarity with macOS fundamentals. You should be familiar with how macOS works including: Operating System(OS) usage: system file structures & navigation, GUI customization and settings and native troubleshooting toolsOS Architecture: how packages and patches are applied, user management, security toggles, keychain controls.Networking: wireless troubleshooting, DNS, DHCP, VPN, certificate managementEnterprise compliance requirements: Anti-virus tools, anti-malware, user permissions, vulnerability detection. As is the case with macOS, not everything we need to do on the platform has an easy button to click. You should be comfortable following directions at the command line. Bash or python programming experience would be a big plus, but we re open to training for the right candidate. We prefer to keep our systems modern and running the latest operating systems (macOS 10.13 High Sierra and macOS 10.14 Mojave), but given the varied needs of a company like ours and the value the experience brings, we d prefer someone who has some experience with some past operating systems as well(10.12, 10.11, etc.).Our employees use a wide array of software tools and it s critical that we not only support that software with patches and updates, but configure it to be useful and compliant with company policies. We expect you to be familiar with deploying and configuring software like the following (not an authoritative list):Internet Browsers (e.g.: Chrome, Safari, and Firefox) Productivity Software (e.g.: Microsoft Office, Adobe Reader, etc.)Creative Software (e.g.: Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Pixelmator, etc.) Development tools (e.g.: Xcode, Git, Java IDEs, etc.),
