Job Description

We are looking for a capacity engineer that will help us identify sites in need of additional storage capacity (timing, quantity, duration, etc.) ahead of time and investigate the additional need of capacity through Root Cause Analysis (RCA). You would work with data scientists to discover the information hidden in vast amounts of data, and help us make smarter decisions to deliver even better products in our infrastructure team. You will need to be extremely analytical to study the infrastructure foot print to be able to get the usage pattern and be able to predict future needs.Our SRE Capacity Engineers have a full understanding of the hardware and software architecture of the applications within the end to end business flow. Working in an Agile DevOps model with Architecture, Operations, Application Development and Infrastructure engineers, they are involved in

  • Data collection, cleanup and analysis
  • Performance and Interoperability Requirements
  • Standards, best practices and Compensating Controls
  • Logging, monitoring, intelligent alerting, self-healing
  • High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Sustained Resiliency, Chaos Engineering
  • Service and Operational Level Agreements
  • Application Knowledge Support Artifacts, etc.

Your expertise in various technology domains will be counted on to set strategic direction and solve complex and mission critical problems, internally and externally.   • Infrastructure foot print data collection, processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
  • Creating capacity reports and sharing with stakeholders at regular intervals
  • Root Cause Analysis of infrastructure capacity issues
  • Defining metrics and thresholds for various operating systems and technology layer
  • Forecasting future capacity needs working in collaboration with Data scientists
  • Deep dives into infrastructure related performance issues
  • Effective analysis of metrics from monitoring tools such as CA Wily, Dynatrace, Tivoli, SCOM etc.
  • Selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques
  • Creating automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of its performance
INTERNAL QUALIFICATIONSThis role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
  • Graduation or post-graduation in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar technical field of study/equivalent experience
  • 9+ years of Software Engineering experience working in infrastructure space as well as application development
  • 2+ years experience as infrastructure architect/specialist
  • 2+ years of experience with any of the programming languages such as Java, .Net, Python
  • Extensive experience using application and infrastructure monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, CA Wily, Splunk, Tivoli etc
  • Strong in Unix/Windows administration skills
  • Strong knowledge of load balancers, data center setup and networking concepts
  • Systematic, fact based decision making and problem solving
  • Strong curiosity and bias for pro-active planning, action, ownership, learning and continuous improvement.
  • Strong inter-personal skills and ability to cultivate relationships with all internal/external stakeholders, promoting diversity of perspectives, ideas and cultures.
  • Ability to clearly articulate ideas, problem/solution/business value descriptions that can be understood by a broad audience in a time sensitive environment
Additional pluses:
  • Full life cycle experience within an Agile framework
  • Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase
  • Mission critical systems experience in a globally distributed framework
  • Best practices in infrastructure and application logging, monitoring, intelligent alerting, and automated self-healing
  • Experience with DevOps model and tools
  • Experience with Site Reliability Engineering
  • Experience with Chaos Engineering
  • Technical leadership experience; driving initiatives through the entire project lifecycle, mentoring and guiding other team members, driving team/project success in a highly collaborative, collegiate environment
