Job Description

The position as Senior Group Head, Data Management is an influential leader within Data Operations in ensuring that device and drug-development plans in Novartis are executed efficiently with timely and high quality deliverables.It is a thought leader role within Data Operations with strong understanding of the drug development process, experience in regulatory activities and key statistical reporting aspects with a track record of operational, organizational and technical leadership.The Senior Group Head will direct, oversee and coordinate all activities, deliverables and resources within his/her respective group. Ensure that KPI s are met and work closely with Operations heads for resourcing, metrics and budgeting. Facilitate the sharing of resources between groups in order to deliver on the company portfolio in alignment with IMB prioritizations. Work seamlessly with partner groups. Lead, contribute to and implement initiatives to establish and maintain Novartis Data Management as best in class in the industry.Your key responsibilities:Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:1. Selects, recruits, develops, manages, motivates, coaches and appraises the performance of direct reports to ensure high quality performance across his/her Clinical Data Management Group 2. Facilitates a partner and customer orientated Clinical Data Management group, role modelling behaviors for Group Heads and more junior members of staff to aspire to. 3. Drive productivity and efficiency measures to meet Novartis strategic imperatives and productivity targets. Actively ensures that metrics for teams performance are in place and being met or exceeded. Takes appropriate action when needed to drive corrective measures. 4. Represent Clinical Data Management regarding requirements, selection, and evaluation of computer systems (hardware & software) that relate to Data Management activities 5. As a member of the Data Management Leadership Team is fully involved in all aspects of Data Management Operations and helps develop future strategies and inputs on processes. Contributes to the further development of the Data Management organization with a focus on continuous improvement by ensuring data management innovations, foster data management solutions and ensuring their efficient implementation and knowledge sharing across Novartis. Acts as an enterprise leader. 6. Understands the needs of the different Health Authorities, ensures that group is audit ready at all times and participates in Health Authority inspections as required by monitoring that all assigned projects in the group comply with company, department and industry standards (e.g. CDISC) and processes 7. Ensures teams compliance with time tracking tool in order to further evaluate business needs with regard to capacity forecasting and increasing productivity 8. Builds and establishes a strong team spirit and creates a team founded on technical ability, excellence in performance and Novartis values and behaviors. 9. Highlight the need for training programs and support the establishment of these (technical, business and soft skills) for clinical Data Management staff and ensure staff training is conducted and properly documented 10. Leads and supports global clinical and non-clinical special projects and initiatives to drive functional excellence 11. Ensures high quality communication and information flow of all deliverables to stakeholders, mitigates and manages risks 12. If required deputizes for the Global Head of Data Management .Minimum requirements BA/BS/MS or equivalent experience in mathematics, statistics, computer science, health sciences or related field. Proven leadership, collaboration and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to successfully manage simultaneous deliverables and meet deadlines Excellent understanding of clinical trials methodology, GCP and medical terminology Must be able to anticipate challenges and risks and proactively suggest/implement solutions. Ability to work under pressure demonstrating agility through effective and innovative team leadership Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to operate effectively in a global environment. Ability to influence and communicate across functions and to external stakeholders Ideally 12 years experience in Drug Development with at least 10 years in Clinical Data Management and atleast 7 years line management or leadership experience.,
