Job Description

  • Looking for highly skilled Principal Analog High-Speed Datacom Layout Engineer to join our team in developing next generation USB and Ethernet products. This role requires building custom layouts for in-silicon Analog macros for High Speed Datacom SERDES. This position at Microchip Technology Inc. is for the USB & Networking group located in Chennai or Hyderabad, India.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Generate custom layouts of Analog/Mixed-Signal macros for High-Speed Datacom SERDES: ADCs, DACs, PLLs, Transmitters/TX, Receivers/RX, LDOs, Regulators, High Speed I/Os, Bandgap, POR, Oscillator, Charge Pump, Under/Over Voltage Protection, DC-DC Switching Converters, Analog Switches etc.
  • Create floorplan and block level routing in Cadence Virtuoso tool environment.
  • Develop the layout from floorplan to DFM compliant production quality.
  • Implement constraint driven layouts.
  • Mitigate and optimize any impact due to parasitic/proximity layout effects.
  • Perform physical verification, electro-migration, self-heating and IR drop checks.
  • Generate LVS, DRC, ERC reports using Mentor Graphics Calibre PV toolset.
  • Work closely with circuit designers on implementation details.
Job RequirementsKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Good understanding of Analog and digital circuit design issues.
  • Knowledge of DFM, hierarchical layout, techniques for Analog matching and low parasitic layout.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience in Physical Verification.
  • Ability to budget time, manage schedule and complete layout tasks on time with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to function independently, be self-driven, stay highly focused and committed to project goals.
  • Excellent technical, communication and interpersonal skills are required.
EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 10 years of industry experience in high performance Analog layout in advanced CMOS process, BS degree a plus
  • Significant experience with EDA tools for Cadence and other Analog and Mixed-Signal IC design tools.
  • Good team player, attitude and thirst for continuous learning.
  • Experienced working in globally distributed design team.
  • Experienced working with Calibre for DRC/LVS/ERC/PEX analysis.
  • Experienced working in Cadence Virtuoso-XL environment.
  • Experienced in automated place and route flow is a plus.
  • Experienced in Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Experienced in generating/executing scripts (Scheme, SKILL, Per/tcl, etc.).
  • Experienced in SKILL programming is a plus.
