Job Description

Role Purpose:

• Design and implementation of infrastructure solutions. Provide engineering to operate and support mission critical infrastructure services to all consumers in Novartis which are in the scope of the BEF and/or COE, ensuring their stability and integrity.
• Database engineering, architecture, tools, & processes for operations, projects and service improvement Resolving critical incidents, support either the ext. service provider or taking over escalated incidents
• Build new solutions (Prototypes, Template, Concept) Lead technical Design in Changes and Projects Identify Demand/CSI, trends, (IT) best-practices (Joint) Solution Evaluation, Approval and support of Change/Project Execute standard Service Requests, mainly in the area of Oracle System/DB Enhancements System Maintenance/Upgrade/Patch Management Back/Restore of DBs Disaster Recovery & High-Availability Management Execute Change Request to correct or enhance Oracle systems or solutions
• Act in Incident Management as Manager of activities to resolve an escalated or major Incident Support the resolution of Incidents with knowledge or active incident resolution Operational support in exceptional situations (escalated or major Incident) Monitoring & Performance Tuning of Oracle Instance/Databases Administration and Security Management of Oracle Instance/databases
• Enforce architectural governance, deployment standards and best practices for Oracle Instances including installation, atching and high availability configurations

Major Accountabilities:

• Working knowledge on ORACLE DB Systems, architecture and DB securities

• Experience in installation, configuration and upgradation administration on UNIX environments to support Oracle DB RAC 12c, 18c and (19c is plus) and EXADATA X6.0, X7.0, (X8 is plus).
• Installing, configuring, patching & administration of Oracle software versions 11g, 12c, & 18c
• Experience in automating the process of Installation, Deployment and Patching of Oracle binaries and databases.
• Oracle ASM (Automatic Storage Management) installation, configuration & administration Installing, configuring, patching & administration of Oracle Data Guard 11g, 12c, & 18c
• Installing, configuring, patching & administration of Oracle RAC 11g, 12c, & 18c
• Upgrading Oracle software version from 10g & 11g to 12c, & 18c Oracle 12c/13c
• Grid OEM for administration, monitoring & performance analysis of Oracle instances Monitoring, performance analysis and fine tuning of databases Backup and restore of databases
• Organize / perform support and troubleshooting for database products
• Good working knowledge of Linux, AIX & Windows Operating Systems
• Desirable: Database Vault, Audit Vault, Data Masking Database security products

KPI: Infrastructure stability; Cost efficiency of Infrastructure; Degree of integration of Infrastructure landscape; Adherence to SLA; Customer satisfaction; Percentage of downtimes; Maximum downtime (during peak times) Minimum requirements

• Bachelor s degree in a scientific discipline, computer science, engineering or mathematics
• ITIL V3 certification Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills Fluency (oral and written) in English, any additional language is a plus
• At least 10+ year experience in Oracle 11g, 12c, & 18c database administration in an Enterprise production and non-production environment
• At least 3 additional year experience in database programming, IT Operations, or application development
• Experience working in pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences industries
• Experience of working in a GxP/SOX qualified environment
