Job Description

  • The Insulation Worker reads blueprints and selects appropriate insulation, based on space characteristics and the heat retaining or excluding characteristics of the material.
  • The Insulation Worker measures and cuts insulation for covering surfaces, using tape measures, handsaws, power saws, knives or scissors.
  • The Insulation Worker covers and lines structures with blown or rolled forms of materials to insulate against cold, heat, or moisture, using saws, knives, rasps, trowels, blowers, and other tools and implements.
  • The Insulation Worker fits, wraps, staples or glues insulating materials to structures or surfaces, using hand tools or wires.
  • The Insulation Worker covers, seals, or finishes insulated surfaces or access holes with plastic covers, canvas strips, sealants, tape, cement or asphalt mastic.
  • The Insulation Worker distributes insulating materials evenly into small spaces within floors, ceilings or walls using blowers and hose attachments, or cement mortars.
  • The Insulation Worker fills blower hoppers with insulating materials.
  • The Insulation Worker moves controls, buttons, or levers to start blowers and regulates flow of materials through nozzles.
  • The Insulation worker prepares surfaces for insulation application by brushing or spreading on adhesives cement or asphalt or by attaching metal pins to surfaces.
  • The Insulation Worker removes old insulation such as asbestos, following safety procedures.
