Job Description

  • As a member of the Lean Management Office (LMO), the Lean Strategic Consultant - AVP effectively supports the global adoption of Lean at State Street. Responsibilities include:
  • Supports Lean engagement activities driving transformation across State Street (including but not limited to: Deep Dive facilitation, Interviews, Value Stream Mapping, Data Collection and Assessment, Root Cause Analysis, Time Studies, Workshops, etc.), driving Program activities, creating status reports and managing issues
  • Support Lean program strategy, implementation and education to drive global adoption (e.g. embedding Lean, Lean Designations, Share Your Lean Success, Forums / Mentoring Circles, Collaborate, Tool Development and Promotion)
  • Exercise discretion and judgment with regard to matters of significance, such as actively participating on Lean Design engagements and initiatives (e.g. operating model design, end to end process reviews, risk and controls assessments and consulting engagements)
  • Support communication and training program initiatives; leveraging consistent messaging and supporting the development of training content for classroom, webinar, and eLearning delivery
  • Effectively communicate complex, conceptual information verbally and in writing, exercising tact, appropriately adjusting communications when interacting with varying levels in the organization, and projecting a leadership presence when interacting with all levels of management and clients
  • Support the building and maintaining of strategic partnerships with senior leaders that drive the creation of a diverse pipeline of engagements
  • Actively promote Lean across State Street; presenting at Town Halls and staff meetings, participating in Lean Broadcasts and forums, contributing to the production of the newsletter and leveraging Collaborate
  • Train, coach and mentor business area staff in Lean principles and tools to drive significant business impact and culture change and to support continuous improvement
  • Manage multiple priorities through to completion under tight deadlines, anticipate and manage through critical issues, effectively collaborating in the midst of ambiguity and tension, and realign priorities and deliverables to ensure milestones and targets are achieved
  • Support the design of the target state vision
  • Provide insights resulting from analysis that informs the target state design
  • Conduct analysis to define transformation design and business impact and support client recommendations
  • Support the development of complex data models (e.g. workload balancing, baselining)
  • Manage own performance through engaging in the PPR process and attending relevant training, e.g. as per the development pathways
  • Anticipate, monitor, actively manage and report all risk and compliance issues, breaches and suspicious activities
  • Act in accordance with Risk Excellence as part of our Way Ahead foundation
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Ability to travel globally (may span 2-3 consecutive weeks)
  • Key contributor on transformational Lean Design engagements spanning multiple geographies
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, communication and presentation skills
  • Clearly communicates both verbally and in written format
  • Ability to present to all levels of executive management
  • Strong team player
  • Strong oversight, consensus building and project management skills
  • Ability to handle multi-faceted initiatives and projects globally across the organization
  • Expertise in M/S Office suite (including working knowledge of Visio and Access)Collaborate Administration skills a plus
  • Bachelor s Degree required (Business or Finance preferred)
  • 8-12 years of experience in financial services is required with at least 3 years of experience related to operations and/or technology process transformation
  • Demonstrated experience in working on process improvement initiatives
  • Strong MS Excel user preferably with advanced skills in financial and spreadsheet modeling, scenario analysis and other quantitative and strategic analyses
  • Proven experience developing and producing metrics-driven management reporting
  • External client-facing experience is a plus
  • Agile and / or BPM experience is a plus
