Job Description

    Job Title: Maintenance ExecutiveDepartment: Engineering / Maintenance Reporting To: Maintenance Manager / Engineering Head Location:Hyderabad Processing Plant (Meat / Food Processing Unit) Employment Type: Full-timeJob SummaryThe Maintenance Executive is responsible for ensuring reliable and safe operation of all plant machinery and utilities through effective preventive maintenance, prompt breakdown handling, and strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and safety standards. The role supports continuous production by minimizing downtime, maintaining equipment efficiency, and coordinating closely with production, quality, and external service teams.Key Responsibilities1. Technical Maintenance & Breakdown Management
    • Carry out preventive maintenance of all meat processing and packaging equipment such as cutters, grinders, mixers, conveyors, chillers, freezers, packaging machines, and utilities as per approved maintenance schedules.
    • Attend to machine breakdowns promptly, identify faults (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic), and carry out effective repairs to minimize downtime.
    • Support installation, commissioning, alignment, trial runs, and basic calibration of new or relocated machinery.
    • Conduct regular plant rounds to monitor equipment condition, including vibration, abnormal noise, leakages, temperature variations, and wear, and take early corrective action.
    • Ensure machines are operating within defined performance and safety parameters.
    2. Documentation & Maintenance Planning
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date daily breakdown reports, preventive maintenance checklists, and maintenance logs.
    • Record and monitor spare parts usage and consumption, ensuring traceability and cost control.
    • Plan and execute maintenance activities in coordination with the production team, aligning machine stoppages with production schedules.
    • Maintain a list of critical spare parts, monitor inventory levels, inform supervisors of shortages, and support the process of raising indents or purchase requests.
    • Assist in improving maintenance schedules and procedures based on recurring issues and breakdown analysis.
    3. Food Safety, Hygiene & Cold Chain Management
    • Ensure all equipment is maintained in a condition suitable for effective cleaning and sanitation, with special focus on meat-contact parts.
    • Verify that machine components can be properly dismantled, cleaned, sanitized, and reassembled as per SOPs.
    • Support compliance with FSSAI, GMP, and HACCP requirements by eliminating risks such as oil leaks, rust formation, contamination points, and unsafe materials.
    • Operate, maintain, and monitor refrigeration systems (chillers, blast freezers, cold rooms) to ensure required temperature control and cold chain integrity.
    • Immediately report and rectify any deviations that may impact product safety or quality.
    4. Safety & Statutory Compliance
    • Strictly follow and enforce safety procedures, including LockoutTagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
    • Identify unsafe conditions such as open guards, loose wiring, damaged panels, oil spillages, or exposed moving parts and take immediate corrective or escalation action.
    • Participate in monthly and periodic safety inspections, audits, and mock drills.
    • Ensure all maintenance-related documents, checklists, and records are maintained and readily available for internal and external audits.
    5. Coordination & Support Role
    • Work closely with production, quality assurance, and food safety teams to support uninterrupted and compliant operations.
    • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) of recurring breakdowns and contribute to corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
    • Coordinate with external service engineers, OEMs, and vendors, explain machine history and issues, and supervise maintenance or repair activities carried out by them.
    • Follow daily tasks assigned by the Maintenance Engineer or Supervisor and provide timely and clear status updates.
    • Ensure effective shift handover, sharing detailed information on machine status, pending jobs, and safety concerns.
    Qualifications & Experience
    • Diploma / ITI / Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent).
    • 25 years of maintenance experience in meat processing, food processing, FMCG, or cold-chain facilities (preferred).
    • Knowledge of mechanical systems, basic electrical troubleshooting, pneumatics, and refrigeration systems.
    Skills & Competencies
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
    • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (FSSAI, GMP, HACCP)
    • Ability to read and understand machine manuals, drawings, and SOPs
    • Good documentation and reporting skills
    • Team-oriented with good communication and coordination abilities
    • Willingness to work in shifts and handle emergency breakdownsm
