Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Establish the networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation and defining, documenting and enforcing system standards.
  • Design and implement new solutions and improve resilience of the current environment Identifying and solving any problems that arise with computer networks and systems. Proven ability to work in a cloud based or hosting environment.
  • Should have complete knowledge on platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP and proficient in one or more computer scripting languages such as JavaScript or Perl.
  • Set-up process, services and tools around cloud; leverage appropriate AWS services.
  • Design the overall Virtual Private Cloud VPC environment including server instance, storage instances, subnets, availability zones, etc.
  • Design the AWS network architecture including VPN connectivity between regions and subnets.
  • Maximize network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimization
  • Undertake data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments using information from multiple sources
  • Secure network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access. Support and administer firewall environments in line with IT security policy. Upgrade data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases.
  • Configure routing and switching equipment, hosted IP voice services and firewalls.
  • Working closely with IT Support by monitoring computer networks and systems to identify how performance can be improved.
  • Report network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information and managing projects. Provide remote support to on-site engineers and end users/customers during installation. Undertake capacity management and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices within data centers.
  • Liaise with project management teams, third-line engineers and service desk engineers on a regular basis.
  • CCNP or higher (CCIE and/or CISSP highly valued). Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS).
  • Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model. Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools. Strong virtualization experience using Hyper-V, VM Ware, Citrix Xen App and NetScaler. Experience working with NetApp storage. Experience in latest version of Microsoft System Center.
  • Manage to host environment inclusive of web servers, VMWare, Citrix, database servers, Cisco, SAN, Blades etc to ensure apt tuning plus capacity.
  • Created, maintained and updated Plan of Actions and Milestones (POAM) for various systems/LANs. Coordinated with ISSOs for mitigating vulnerabilities included in the POAM.
  • Conducted Security Evaluation and Testing (STE) for systems for Certification and Accreditation and conducted Risk Assessment to NIST 800-30.
Qualifications/Skills:
  • Bachelor s degree in IT, computer science or related field of study. An analytical mind and ability to learn new technologies. Good time management skills.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal. Expertise in network design, implementation, hardware configuration, performance tuning and network troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge in Cyber Security. Tracking budget expenses. Problem solving and analytical skills. A self-learner who can work independently and comfortable working in a team environment.
