Role PurposeSTL (Sterlite Technologies Ltd) are continuing to grow rapidly and to support the next stage of our growth in our Network Design team, we are recruiting for a Network Planner. This role will responsible for design of specific clients or type of network design service, this will also involve driving and outputs to the clients required specification and expectations. The network Planner will be responsible for the overall design of the FTTx network including (facilities space/location, passive and active network components). The role will be integral and involved in all areas of the actual design works.Role Responsibilities
  • Drive and exhibit acceptable design practices through the team of designers and ensure the STL core values are adopted with regards High quality of outputs and Promises Delivered.
  • Work closely with the GIS and Delivery Systems Manager to ensure design process and procedures using the design systems, provide the best fit and automated approaches for the allocate client specifications
  • Provide training to clients or team members as and when required on subjects of change, variation or proposed enhancements
  • The role will be expected to complete, for 90% of their time, planning activities with the remainder undertaking with reporting on completion targets and design outputs.
  • The Network Planner, in conjunction with the Senior Network Planner, will be responsible for Implementing and following the design ISO9001 process documentation on a per client procedural basis.
  • The role should ensure performance metrics and KPI s are measured and reported on for the team, identifying areas for further training or process steps which are not efficient or causing problems in the output targets.
  • Deliver network designs to high quality, ensuring all outputs and documentation are completed on time and delivered to clients.
  • Guide planning best practice on the subjects of LOC, Wayleaves, ROW and any other issues of access or permissions needing to be considered at design stages.
  • Able to reflect the design desktop world of planning with the realities and difficulties found in the outside plant environment
  • Must be able to put quality checks in at the right places to ensure their part of the design meets 95% compliance with customer requirements and passes the independent quality check procedures.
  • Understand and implement health and safety guidelines when planning and providing guidance to clients on CDM regulations or SED s that need to reviewed.

  • 5+ Years experience working in a service-based business for FTTx and Telecommunications Design of Infrastructure (Civils and Fibre).
  • Having worked on FTTx for clients based outside of India, specifically UK, Australia, Europe and USA.
  • Excellent understanding of FTTx architectures, including core, distribution and access networks.
  • Full understanding and clarity around the quality of outputs and information needed for the build teams to read, interpret and execute efficiently in the field.
  • Detailed understanding of all design tolerances of overhead (pole) and underground (duct) route planning using different client architectures.
  • Ability to identify engineering risks and propose mitigation steps for associated solutions.
  • Excellent knowledge of PIA and its interpretations
  • Ability to troubleshoot and provide solutions to the build teams to solve and rectify problems in real-time, creating efficiency and speed to the process.
  • Knowledge and experience of one or more of these GIS Design/Planning software: Comsof, GE Smallworld, 3GIS, QGIS
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation and responsibilities under CDM
  • Knowledge and a good understanding of NRSWA
  • Able to work with multiple departments and interact with Operations Engineering and Sales
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills with the ability to interact effectively with all personnel, vendors and clients
  • Strong Communication skills
