Networking Specialist Technical Curriculum Developer

Job Description

The Red Hat Global Learning Services team is looking for an expert in networking technology to join us as a Networking Specialist Technical Curriculum Developer. In this role, you ll help create and maintain our technical curriculum including practical labs and courseware for instructor-led and self-paced courses using Red Hat technologies where networks are a critical part of the learning. You ll serve as a subject matter expert and author as you develop courses that will include practical labs, narratives, and authoring scripts. Previous experience as a network administrator, network architect, technical developer, consultant, or instructor is desired. You ll need excellent technical writing skills, and will be asked to provide samples of content that you have produced. As a Networking Specialist Technical Curriculum Developer, you will have the unique opportunity to learn and be involved with Red Hat software prior to public general availability. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business. Primary job responsibilities

• Work alongside other team members in an agile development workflow to deliver Red Hat Training and Certification offerings in a timely manner and consistent with quality standards
• Create new courses and update existing course materials in collaboration with subject matter experts and key stakeholders
• Write clear, concise chapter narratives and develop real-world and use-case based examples, guided exercises, and practical lab materials
• Build, deploy, and maintain classroom computing environments for practical labs during the development cycle
• Learn new skills and technologies quickly in order to become a subject matter expert
• Engage and participate in Communities of Practice and Red Hat Learning Community

Required skills

• 2+ years of industry experience in one or more areas of: datacenter networks, edge computing, fibre channel, cloud Networks (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCE), software-defined networking (SDN) like OpenStack Neutron or Multus
• Practical experience with routers, load balancers, firewalls, switches, and SDN providers
• Experience with network hardware brands like Cisco, Juniper, F5
• Deep knowledge of OSI Model and TCP/IP v4 and v6 standards
• Solid Linux proficiency, including command line and basic administration skills at Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) level
• Ability to quickly learn new programming languages, libraries, and tools like Python or Ansible
• Excellent verbal and written communication with an emphasis on technical writing skills in English; additional languages are a plus
• Ability to interpret customer business problems and technical issues and effectively explain how a Red Hat solution will align to identified challenges or requirements
• Self-motivated, with excellent interpersonal skills, including working as part of a global team

The following are considered a plus:

• Storage area network (SAN), network-attached storage (NAS), or clustered storage networking experience
• Up to date with current networking trends like Edge, Internet of Things (IoT)
• Fundamental programming experience, particularly in one or more of the following languages or frameworks: Python, Ruby, LUA, etc.
• Experience using Ansible to manage network devices
• 2+ years of experience working in a software development life cycle
