Completion is the stage just before a well starts to produce oil and gas. A completion engineer is a category of petroleum engineer with five to 15 years of oil industry experience who designs methods to improve oil and gas production from a well. He has to understand the pressures and temperatures of rocks miles underground throughout the length of the well bore, and how fluids oil, gas and water flow out of them. He works with geologists, petroleum engineers and drilling technicians to decide if and how the well bore should be lined with a steel casing, and the most cost-effective method of doing this. A bachelors degree in petroleum engineering is the minimum entry-level qualification for this job. An MBA or other masters degree in engineering is an advantage
