You ll think beyond single service needs and think about how to reduce operational complexity and up-level the SDE population for an entire family of services benefiting both developer and internal business customers.Your responsibilities will include: Influence at all levels from business strategy down to implementation. You will own direct technical contributions for some areas and in others you will influence and direct at the architectural level. Maintain current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology, always on a lookout for new technologies and work across all teams to benefit from these new technologies. Raise operational awareness and best practices across all engineering teams. Lead by example, demonstrating technical excellence that other engineers aspire to follow. Taking time to mentor and develop members of each team.You must be able to work with a minimum of technical supervision, engaging engineering teams across the organization to deliver results, while responding efficiently to multiple program priorities. In addition, you ll have the opportunity to analyze the latest technologies and development trends, establishing and implementing standard practices for the organization s engineering teams.About the teamThe e-Commerce Service Group at Amazon is an agile team whose charter is to deliver the next generation of e-Commerce solutions. • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 15+ years of experience in software development.
• 5+ years of experience in large scale distributed system development
• Proven experience with full development life cycle for large-scale software products including extensive experience with service oriented architectures, design patterns and web services.
• Experience building scale out systems, backend platform technologies and enterprise IT systems.
• Excellent problem solving skills; ability to simplify and innovate.
• Ability to collaborate, be both highly motivated and motivating.
• Excellent leadership, verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience building multi-tenant systems and systems with rapidly changing business logic
• Experience building systems with significant, ongoing, and evolving compliance requirements
• Experience with large scale classification problems
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, asynchronous architectures and distributed algorithms.
• Deep understanding of system performance tradeoffs, load balancing, and engineering for high availability.
• Experience with contributing to open source.
• Proven results oriented person with a bias to action.
• Masters in Computer Science.
