Job Description

  • In this role, you will be responsible for leading the product/program management around a key area in AI for India in AI&R group, specifically focusing on speech and translation.
  • You will be responsible for the product roadmap, customer understanding, training data acquisition strategy, and market understanding. You will work with the engineering team to enable them to deliver speech and translation technology as required per the roadmap.
  • You will interface with key field teams, and large customers/partners to encourage adoption of Microsoft s Speech and language technologies in India.
  • You will have the opportunity to create value directly, or indirectly via our partners, to hundreds of millions of end-users in India
  • To be successful in this role, the individual will have proven capabilities in AI (speech specific experience is a huge plus), proven product management experience, excellent collaboration and communication skills, have a high level of attention to detail, exhibit a learning mindset & role model Microsoft values and behaviors.
  • The individual will have to be entrepreneurial at heart (i.e. find a way through all types of hurdles) and will have a beginner mindset in approaching problems. India knowledge and experience is an advantage.
  • Speech and translation roadmap: Create, in partnership with field & engineering teams, the roadmap for speech and translation technologies, as it relates to Indian languages
  • Data acquisition strategy: Iterate and develop the most appropriate ongoing data acquisition strategy to support the roadmap
  • Enable execution: Enable the engineering team to execute on the roadmap, by providing clear goals, timelines and support/guidance. Be on the same page with the engineering team constantly.
  • Market/Customer understanding: Develop critical and clear understanding of the requirements of the Indian Market for speech, of the requirements of customers (enterprises) for speech, distill that and use it to develop the roadmap, and lead the team.
  • People Management: Lead a small team of program/product managers who will form part of this team. Develop the capabilities of the team, and delegate responsibilities as appropriate. Enable the Individual Contributors to be successful by coaching/mentoring them.
  • Meeting Business Goals: Meet agreed upon business goals (customer adoption), in conjunction with the engineering and field teams.
  • Evangelism: Evangelize the adoption of Microsoft AI technologies in India.
  • Strong background in AI, particularly applied AI
  • Strong product management experience
  • Strong drive to create impact for hundreds of millions of people in India.

  • 10+ years of related industry experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in leading products with large impact potential
  • Demonstrated product management expertise
  • 3+ years people management experience
  • Proven background in AI (academic, or proven industry experience)
  • Specific experience with Speech
  • Specific expertise in Indian market
  • Global Experience: Prior experience in interacting with global teams and delivering across geographies
