We foster a supportive and productive work environment to provide growth avenues for each team member and are looking for a leader who can bring out the best from people.The WebXT platform team @ Search Technology Centre India works on backend platforms such as Object Store, Ranking Service, Discovery, Content Moderation and others that are key to powering Bing Search Engine. We are managing one of the world s largest distributed systems and have been very successful in building efficient large scale distributed system for search. With the advancment in hardware, machines are becoming more powerful. How to fully utilize machine resources is becoming a bigger challenge. The agility of engineering and deployment is also a big challenge when handling such a complex system. As Bing becomes more intelligent, the need for constantly improving the backend is more important than ever.In order to remain competitive, WebXT engineers must be able to design, build and deploy new experiences within days, sometimes within hours. The current infrastructure of Bing have enabled building a highly competitive search engine and personal assistant, but has constraints w.r.t the shipping cadence, development techniques and use of modern technologies suitable for broader, AI-centric, distributed applications like Cortana, Bing@Work etc. Our team is responsible for Object Store platform, a highly available distributed key-value store with low latency and high throughput.We are looking for exceptional Principal level Software Engineers who are product focused, technically strong and have great customer obsession. As a part of this role you will lead initiatives across Object Store to achieve business goals.Job Responsibilities:- Design/Build highly scalable and performant distributed systems- Establish accountability and pride in ownership- Identify opportunities that maximize impact on product, challenge the status quo, define and reach ambitious goals- Collaborate well across orgs/teams and disciplines- Providing long term technical vision and direction for the team- Helping the team model an ambiguous problem in platform area and enabling engineers to solve- Role model for good engineering, clean design and principled thinking- Contribute to the success of the bigger org and partners, QualificationsUndergraduate or Graduate degree in Computer Science or a related fieldStrong skills in software design, problem solving and communication with a good foundation in computer science12+ years of software development experience with high quality coding and debugging ability in one or more of the following languages: C, C++, C#, Java, PythonHave demonstrable experience in architecting and driving implementation of large-scale services or experiences spanning, multiple systems and groupsKnowledge of one or more of Distributed Systems such as open source Hadoop, Spark, Docker, Kubernetes etc. is a plusMicrosoft is an equal opportunity employer.
