Job Description

Principal Software Engineer in Test for the R&D Engineering function of Medtronic Engineering and Innovation Center R&D facility. The individual will operate in all phases and contribute to all activities of the software development process. Candidate must be willing to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking, team environment. The Principal Engineer frequently interacts with Tech Lead, other developers, V&V engineers, internal partners and stakeholders concerning estimations, design, implementation or requirement clarifications, works closely with global sites.A Day in the LifeComplete ownership for preparing test automation solution, designing automation frameworks and lead the implementation of test strategy, test plans & test execution of the product.Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code and other engineering artifacts, ensuring timely delivery to meet program commitments.Guide project test engineering decisions and direction. Take the high level requirements and independently complete test development per the defined processes. Design and execute project test plans and strategies.Collaborate with stakeholders to strategize as per the roadmap.Helps to get team unblocked on complex technical issues.Design and execute tests using automated test tools, as well as Manual test development process, for the verification of software requirements. Learn and understand software standards for Medical devices, ex. IEC62304.Support test infrastructure set up and test tool development, such as test tools, stubs, Hardware/Firmware simulators and emulators.Establish and maintain traceability from software requirements to verification test design and implementation. Design and execute tests using automated test tools, as well as Manual test development process, for the verification of software requirements. Participate in the technical reviews of software requirements and peer verification test development. Recommend new tools, techniques and methodology for improving quality and productivity.Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, mentoring, and software engineering best practices Work collaboratively with internal and external partners.Manage deliverables independently.Education:Required: Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in Computer Sciences, Bio-Technology, Bio-Medical, Electronics or Electrical Engineering from a premium institute.Preferred: Maters in Engineering or Masters in Technology Computer Sciences, Bio-Technology, Bio-Medical, Electronics or Electrical Engineering from a premium institute.Required Skills/Competencies:14+ years of software industry experience primarily in Software Testing Manual and Automation5+ years of experience in Software/Test framework Design & architecture Proficiency with one or more following programming languages: Java, C#, Java Script, pythonExperience in working in a mobile environment with both Android and iOSExpertise in Design & development of Test Automation for Mobile application and web applications.Expertise in developing automation using Appium and Selenium.5+ years of experience in leading, mentoring and coaching software test teams.Experience in preparing test strategy, test plans & test execution of product.Experience of working with Hybrid and Native mobile applications.Experience with software version control toolsHands on experience with Test Management and Defect Management tools preferably Microsoft Test ManagerExperience in both Agile and Waterfall software development methods. Effectively communicate and operate within a cross-functional work environment (software verification and development engineers, system engineers, human factor engineers and quality engineers)Strong written and verbal communication.Nice to have:Design/test experience working with regulated medical devices.Experience working within a regulated environment.Local language test experienceExperience in AzureDevop,
