Principal Systems Development Engineer, Open Telecom Ecosystem Lab (OTEL)We are looking for talented, driven, self-starter individuals to join our Telcom Systems Business Unit (TSB) engineering team. This role requires a demonstrated ability to conduct solution development, architecture, end-to-end solution validation, automation and delivery for Dell s Telcom products and solutions offerings.About Telcom Systems Business Unit (TSB) and TeamTSB creates products and solutions catering to the worldwide telecommunications market, which is exploding with new and exciting opportunities offered by new developments such as 5G, Internet of Things, and open radio access networks (ORANs). The market consists of communication service providers, managed service providers, hosting companies, content delivery network companies, cloud service providers, and consumer/enterprise web-technology providersThe telecom ecosystem engineering team is responsible for partnering, creating and delivering telco solutions with ecosystem partners for telco customers. The team works closely with a world-class product and partner management team in defining and road-mapping the offerings. Together, we have a strong track record of creating unique value for Dell Technologies, with a robust and positive impact on its bottom line. The engineering team works closely with key communication service providers (CSP) worldwide, which, taken together, represent about 70% of the market. Collaboratively, we create production-worthy offerings that are unique, cutting-edge, and shape this emerging market. The ideal candidate has telco network experience with vital technical training, impeccable industrial pedigree, a strong record of innovation, and is looking for next more significant challenge. The individual is not afraid to tinker with system to build a multi layered disaggregated solutions and has to be a self-learner, be an excellent communicator, and above all, be efficient in all that they do. The individual will work with geographically dispersed teams, so experience operating in such intercontinental environments will be a huge plus.Role and Responsibilities:
• Design, validate and optimize telecom architectural solutions with cloud-native infrastructure for 5G Core and Open RAN network functions
• Drive open telecom ecosystem interop testing based on O-RAN conformance specifications and end-to-end validation of O-RAN solutions
• Provide technical leadership on network design, solution integration and end-to-end solution validation of 5G and Open RAN solutions for Telco customers
• Act as a technical expert for 5G network workloads deployed across the hybrid cloud, core, edge, and radio technologies
• Solve complex problems independently through requirements gathering, industry research and collaboration with existing assets
• Foster a collaborative relationship with partners to develop, communicate and present architectures, solutions, and strategies to meet the customer s needs
• Work with extended teams; project management, product management, partners, services, and other BUs to drive integration and adoption of Dell product within partner ecosystem and create a better application integration
Essential Knowledge/Skills:
• Expert in eNodeB/gNodeB solution development, validation, optimization and lifecycle management
• Strong knowledge in 5G Radio and subsystems architecture, implementation and ecosystem
• Extensive experience in solution development and validation including Telco Cloud Platform, RAN, Open RAN/O-RAN, 3GPP Specs, LTE/4G and 5G deployments, OSS/BSS, platform models such as NFV and distributed/federated edge platforms (e.g. ETSI MEC)
• In-depth knowledge and expertise in setting test scenarios, profiles, including performance, scale and resiliency related towards deployment worthy validated solutions
• Strong communication skills and an ability to articulate technical vision while understanding business requirements. The ability to collaborate even when there aredifference within the team members.
• Advanced understanding of telco system dimensioning, performance, debugging and troubleshooting complex solutions.
• Experience in collaborating with customers to understand the problem statement/use cases and mapping them to tangible technical requirements
Desired Requirements
• B .E./B. Tech/ MCA with at least 8-12 years of experience or M.E./M. Tech in Computer Science with similar experience
• Preferable experience with fronthaul/midhaul traffic, UE simulators, performance & latency measurements, timing and clock synchronization fundamentals and associated hardware and test methodology understanding
• Experience as Technical lead of solution development teams with proven track record
• Familiar with Hyperscaler technologies such as AWS, Azure, and Google
