What is the Senior Engineer responsible for

• Reporting to the Manager of Global Cloud Engineering, the Senior Engineer will provide solution engineering support for Linux, Solaris and AIX Server Build Automation and Server Infrastructure in our Global Data Centers and Cloud Virtual Data Centers. Solutions will be collaboratively developed with, but not limited to, our infrastructure engineers and architects, Application Development, database teams and industry partners. Additionally, Tier 3 engineering on-call support will be provided for the Franklin Templeton Operations organization for the same infrastructure environment.
• Primary disciplines the Senior Engineer will be responsible for Linux and Solaris projects and deployments, server automation builds across the global landscape, process automation, scripting, and Cisco UCS infrastructure design and engineering. Secondary disciplines will include cross platform server engineering for Microsoft Windows.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of Senior Engineer

• Engineering and lifecycle planning support for RHEL 7/8 and Solaris 10/11/12.
• Automated provisioning of Linux/Solaris servers with BMC BSA (Bladelogic Server Automation) including OS, Patching, Backup, Storage, Networking automation.
• Process owner for Cisco UCS server infrastructure supporting system lifecycle management.
• Solutions will include addressing project technical requirements, building technical solution documents/diagrams, financial cost considerations, transitions to operational processes and Operational runbook turnover.
• Efficiently fulfill customer and business demand by partnering with Architects, Operations and other stakeholders to design, communicate and implement Strategies, Technology Roadmaps, Standards, Processes and Services.
• Partner with Global Information Security to develop server and OS configuration standards that deliver security capabilities which ensure security, audit and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Provide Capacity Planning and Performance Management for the assigned environments and integrate/execute with infrastructure capacity planning processes.
• Stay abreast of new and emerging technologies and processes.
• Independently and as a team member, lead, influence and mentor technical concepts/methods and associated engineering lifecycle processes. Make and influence technical decisions.
• Mentor junior team members and support teams to enhance their skills and abilities.
• Partner with Operations to establish criteria and execution to ensure proper transition from Engineering to Operational areas for project/technology delivery and production support.
• Contribute to and/or lead the triage and resolution of escalated, complex problems to ensure timely restoration or quality of service.

, What ideal qualifications, skills and experience would help someone be successful in this role

• 10+ years experience delivering Data Center and Cloud engineering solutions for global mid to large sized corporations with geographically dispersed populations.
• HW experience: Cisco UCS.
• SW experience: VMware, RHEL 7 & 8, Red Hat Satellite Servers, Solaris OS, Veritas InfoScale and VOM (Operations Manager), Kickstart, Jumpstart.
• Cloud experience: Multiple versions of Linux based OS, Azure and AWS Linux builds and deployments, Cloud Recovery Services, Cloud Backup Services, Securing and Patching Cloud Servers.
• Saltstack Enterprise Implementations: supporting automation across the Linux environment.
• Other Open Source Applications supporting automation and build deployments.
• IT Security Scan experience: identifying and closing vulnerabilities found in Security Scans including Tenable Nessus.
• Microsoft Active Directory integration with Linux builds and password/user management.
• Expertise in Server Automation Implementations/Builds as well as Jumpstart and Kickstart builds.
• Expert level experience with scripting languages; i.e. PowerShell, PERL, NSH, Shell, Python.
• Passionate, collaborative, results-oriented Engineer with a proven track record of developing effective and appropriate Infrastructure solutions.
• Experience in teaming with geographically distributed and culturally diverse work-groups.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to effectively and proactively communicate their documented total solutions to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong organization, planning and project management skills.
• Strong interpersonal / relationship management skills.
• Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.

• Specific senior level knowledge with Automation Tools:
  • BMC BSA (Bladelogic Server Automation), Jenkins, Ansible, etc.
• Financial Services industry experience.
• Storage, Networking and IT Security Infrastructure knowledge as applied to Linux Servers.
• Senior Level Experience with Information Security.
• Disaster Recovery, Clustering, High Availability implementations.
• In-Depth Unix programming; i.e. in bourne, bash, ksh, csh, tcsh, nsh, PowerShell, java, perl, ruby, xml.
• Microsoft 2016/2019, AD/ADFS.
• SSO (Single-Sign-On).
• AIX and Solaris
