The Engineer is responsible for the design and analysis of safety and non-safety related Instrumentation & Controls systems under the direction of a senior engineer and regularly interfacing with the Chemicalprocess, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams for I&C design and consultation. This Engineer applies his or her knowledge and experience, industry best practices, regulatory guidance, codes and standards, and good engineering judgment to ensure the design is compliant with International standards and industry best practices.Specific Area of Responsibility: Perform full spectrum of Instrumentation & Controls design engineering activities such as basic engineering, detailed engineering of Control systems & Field instrumentation for power & process plants.Instrumentation skills, Applies engineering principles, techniques and practices in the preparation and/or review of system design work products such as:P&IDsLogic diagramsOne-line/three-line diagramsSchematics and wiring diagramsInstrumentation and I/O listsSystem function and design requirement specificationsSystem design documentsSizing and specifying I&C (transmitters, operators, control valves, switches, etc.) equipmentI&C calculations: setpoint, loop calibration, and instrument calibration tolerancesEngineering reportsHazard analysesInspections, Tests, and Analysis Acceptance Criteria (ITAAC)Instrument Vendor selection and vetting processAutomation & Control skills, Applies engineering principles, techniques and practices in the preparation and/or review of controls work products such as:Developing Control Logics in DCSPLC systems based on SAMA sheets.Developing Graphics in DCSPLC HMI systems based on control narratives.Control test case/Instruction development and perform logic & graphics testing.Develop User Requirement Specifications.Review of Functional requirements, generation of System Design Specification, preparing of Technical Reports & Generate Requirement Traceability Matrix.Specify and purchase process instrumentation (when applicable)Specify and purchase PLCs, drives, and other electrical components and equipment (when applicable)Develop electrical & control panel schematics.Develop scope of supply documents.Assist with estimates of man-hours required to complete projects.Install, test, and start-up control systems on-siteInterprets scope and project requirements and develops design alternatives. Plans, organizes, and performs complex assignments in a team environment under the direction of a senior I&C Engineer. Independently verify and validate engineering calculations. Develop and maintain standards and Conduct of Engineering methods. Perform and support systems engineering and integration activities. Plan, organize, and perform complex assignments in a team environment. Support and manage procurement of services and equipment. Prepare and deliver technical presentations to internal and external organizations. Prepare internal work authorizations (scope, resource estimate and schedule). Interface with, and receive input from lead subcontractors and colleagues, including subject matter experts.Minimum Requirements: Bachelors in Instrumentation & Controls Engineering or a closely related field of study from an accredited college or university.Five (5) to ten (10) total years of demonstrated, applicable experience in process, fossil and nuclear fields, with demonstrated ability to solve complex engineering problems.Experience with I&C analysis and design software.Experience with DCSs, PLCs, HMIs and their requirements in a processpower industryDemonstrated technical writing skills and effective communication skills.Demonstrated good judgment, ability to act independently, flexibility, adaptability and leadership skills.Ability to plan and organize work tasks and meet deadlines.Strong inter-personal skills; effective in a team environment.Strong basic computer skills.Desired Qualifications: MS in Instrumentation & Control Engineering or a closely related field of study from an accredited college or university.Ten (10) years of demonstrated, applicable experience in design and maintenance of I&C and electrical systems for the processpower industryExperience with applicable IEEE, IEC, EPRI, ISA and ANSI codes and standards.Experience in designing I&C systems.Experience with integrated process control strategies.Experience with Cyber Security/CDAs.Experience with AutoCAD, MS Visio, Smart Plant P&ID and Smart Plant Instrumentation.Experience in DCS/PLC systems (Ovation is a must)Skills & ExperienceFunctional Designs, Ovation Control Builder, Ovation Distributed Control System (ODCS)Cyient is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Cyient recruits, employs, trains, compensates, and promotes regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender, gender identity or expression, veteran status, and other protected status as required by applicable law.
