Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Accountable for the management of the control room operations.
• Operates and manages process parameters of number of units at the same time, controlling all process parameters like flow, temperature, pressure etc
• through DCS Operating System to achieve safe running of the plant and
• maintain uninterrupted production as per defined quantity and quality.
• Maintains continuous radio contact with Senior Operators to keep them informed of operating conditions to request manual adjustments of equipment, to carry out on-site readings and convey instructions given by Shift Supervisor.
• Maintains continuous liaison with other Panel Operators to coordinate the required supplies according to production conditions.
• Alters operating conditions or product flows to allow prior isolation of equipment for maintenance and re-commences operations according to procedures, following completion of maintenance. Keeps himself aware of ongoing maintenance work by reviewing permit to work records/logs.
• Communicates with the Panel Operator of other areas to coordinate operations that may affect the operation and/or production of any unit within the Plant.
• Includes informing each other of changes and synchronizing activities to minimize loss of production.
• Determines developing trends in operating conditions, reporting significant changes and initiating action as required.
• Is focal communications point between Shift Supervisor/Managers and outside operators during emergency situations.
• Responsible for the support of Company Safety, environment and Quality policies and programs, and carrying out specific duties and responsibilities related to his job as spelled out in Management Systems Manual, Safety Manual
• Carries out similar or related duties such as assisting in maintaining shift log; initiating emergency procedures as required and complying with safety rules and regulations.
• Ensuring the security of company assets by operating in a safe and efficient manner.
• Compliance with the Safety Management System and the Emergency response plan of the company.
• Monitoring, control and reaction to the process control, emergency shutdown and Fire and Gas System.
• Applies process isolation under the direction of Area Authority and as per the standards procedure.
• Communicating observed operational problems to the appropriate supervisor.
• Initiating unit, train and emergency shutdown of process and utility system during abnormal operation, or as a result of an emergency situation on the installation
• Initiating appropriate action in the event of process and utility system alarms and trips.
• Monitoring and recording of key parameters for hydrocarbon process plant and utility systems.
• Execute all assigned work tasks in line with agreed operating procedures and current approved work practices.
• Maintaining communications with local staff in Control Room as well as in the fields
• Monitoring and recording all parameter and maintaining the production quality and quantity.
• Collect and compile all relevant data related to operational parameters and production activities for round the clock operations.
• Ensure the control room is properly managed
• Communicate with client for the routine maintenance of the instruments and equipment
• Carry out preventative and planned maintenance on the Yokogawa system(ICSS)as per requirements.
• Report to Supervisor on status of daily activities and work progress and control and plan the field activities accordingly.
• Execute operations activities in accordance with stipulated production programme/plan by the client.
• Troubleshoot the production abnormalities arising on day today basis.
• Interface with other service department staff to coordinate breakdown or routine maintenance work.
• Ability to resolve the technical issues with the maintenance crew and coordinate with the same for the smooth running of the plant.
• Take leading role to control emergencies and contain hazards within area of responsibility as per the approved emergency procedures and Emergency Response plans.Good knowledge of Permit to Work system.
• Handover of daily production reports to supervisor.
• Key interface with the client for the control room activities.
• Able to maintain a clear and crisp shift log book.
• Clear and proper communication with the client as well as working staff to run the plant safely.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
• Minimum of 5 to 10 years experience within the oil and gas Processing / Refining / Petrochemical / EPC field in DCS Operation.
• Well developed Trouble shooting capabilities.
• Good Communication and Organization skills.
• Extensive Knowledge of Control room DCS Operation.
• Work in a Manner consistent with the Operation Philosophy of System Ownership and with a heightened awareness of HSE.
• Emergency handling and response.
• Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Chemical, Petroleum or Scientific Discipline.
