We are ONEXILINX.Seeking an experienced, motivated staff technical writer for Xilinx, Inc., a well-established, leading semiconductor firm based in San Jose, California. Xilinx technology and best-in-class products include solutions for artificial intelligence, high-speed computing, memory bandwidth, embedded vision and design, as well as all cloud-based and traditional networking flows.This opportunity is for an experienced technical writer. It requires a solid knowledge of documentation design and delivery best practices and demonstrated success in project management.The successful candidate for this position will demonstrate a track-record of success, strength, and aptitude in the following areas:Responsibilities

• Demonstrated ability to write to effective technical writing standards
• Ability to independently manage multiple projects and deadlines to successful completion
• Effective negotiator; able to grasp impact and importance of stakeholder engagement cross-functionally
• Identify and implement improvements to departmental processes and procedures
• Mentor and lead junior writers to meet team objectives and goals
• Take a leading role in designing content and content delivery options. Lead one or more product areas or functions
• Understands and promotes usability and product goals
• Partner with higher-level doc stakeholders and co-workers to develop and implement documentation and content strategies
• Promote team work and engagement among global writers and their managers

Experience and Qualifications

• BA in Technical Communication, English, Journalism or related field OR -- university-issued credential in Technical Communication OR Masters or Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or Electronics
• 10+ years of experience in technical documentation; including supporting a major product, product suite or technology
• Experience with structured authoring/DITA adoption and implementation (required). Experience in migration of documentation from disparate systems like Adobe Framemaker, MS Word, and so on, to DITA-based XML. Strong understanding of reuse.
• Experience with setting and achieving individual and organizational goals
• Experience with defining and implementing strategic solutions
• Demonstrated passion for quality and accuracy in technical communications
• Experience with API documentation

Bonus Skills:

• Experience with collaboration and project management platforms like Confluence and Jira
• Experience working with Microsoft Visio, Sharepoint, and SnagIT
• Experience with ideating or implementing automation solutions independently or in collaboration with technical experts
• Knowledge of scripting in Python, Java and XML-based standards and frameworks like XSLT, DTD
• Knowledge in working with Doxygen, Sphinx
• Experience with Markdown, Git, reStructuredText
