Job Description

The NCR Payments Processing SW Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing multiple sw development teams working on the payments processing platform. The ideal candidate is an experienced sw engineering manager who enjoys working on technical challenges, helping the team overcome obstacles and provides visibility to upper management on any delivery slippage or resource needs. They will be working with other engineering managers in the payments division within the NCR. They will be self-directed and comfortable supporting other teams. The right candidate will be excited by the contribution to the organization growth and payment invovation.

The NCR Payments SW Engineering Manager contributes in the following:

Project Management

Breaking a project or work down into smaller chunks, and assigning to the right developer Work with product owner to define the requirements / user stories, to ensure they are fully vetted Establish schedule / estimates / delivery timelines / etc. Oftentimes you will be stuck in the ScrumMaster role, if no one else on the team wants to do it Performance Management

Performance reviews

Salary adjustments (bonus, raises, etc) Performance plans (i.e. PIP s)

Communication - You are the voice of your teams, and as such need to communicate:

Up - Communicating status of your team up your management chain Across - Communicating with peers and other functional groups across the organization Down - Communicating news, decision making to your team

Recruitment - You will need to work with HR to create job postings, screen resumes, interview candidates, etc.

Technical - Technical background is expected to help structure your teams for success

YOU HAVE

Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering management.
  • 3+ years in Public Cloud based engineering.
  • 3+ years in high volume transaction processing.
  • Experience building and optimizing complex software producs.
  • Defining and executing on SDLC.
  • Experience building CI/DI pipelines for the product deployment.
  • Strong reporting on KPIs.
  • Experience with large SW development organizations.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with moder development tools on various technological platforms: Windows, Linux, Cloud.
  • Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, Realtime transaction processing and Data warehouse.
  • Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, C++, Scala, etc.
General knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Knowledge of financial services payments industry
  • Azure or GCP Public Cloud Technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of end-to-end systems development life cycles (including agile, iterative, and other modern approaches to software development)
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization (e.g., executive, management, individual contributors)
  • Positive outlook, strong work ethic, and responsive to internal and external customers and contacts
  • Willingly and successfully fulfills the role of teacher, mentor and coach
