Job Description

  • Work closely with the Securities Services Data Platform Technology and Product Development teams to develop and maintain the core data platform
  • Liaise with Business Analysts and Product Development team members to translate requirements into high impact business deliveries
  • Build robust, scalable applications that require participation in every facet of the SDLC
  • Partner with global development teams and user base
  • Ability to organize a development plan to meet agreed deadlines
  • Produce code that conforms to controls standards e.g. jobs should be re-runnable with minimal effort
  • Develop diligently with a high regard for system reliability, scalability and automation
Skills / QualificationsEssential
  • Extensive experience in delivering impactful data platform and analytical solutions
  • A strong technical background - particularly in data and analytics, with broad experience in data modelling, ingestion/transformation and commercialization
  • A demonstrable track record of delivering high-impact projects
  • A diligent approach to data quality and security
  • Proficient in Java with a strong track record of delivering with impact
  • Experience working within a Big Data environment having used Spark, Hbase and Hive (or similar)
  • Experience working with micro services architecture.
  • Experience with Git, Maven, Jira and familiarity with the SDLC/Agile
  • Strong database skills with a thorough understanding of relational database and understanding of Object Oriented databases
  • Well Grounded in Object Oriented Programming and Design Patterns
  • Hands on experience with J2EE(JDBC, JNDI, JMS), Tomcat a plus
  • Knowledge of JMS and MOM desirable. AMPS or Kafka knowledge a plus
  • Working Knowledge of JSON and ideally Protobuf message formats
  • Comfortable working with Eclipse IDE or IntelliJ IDEA.
  • Working knowledge of REST web services
  • Unit test frameworks e.g. Junit or Mockito
  • Knowledge of open source solutions and trending technologies
  • Well-grounded in Object Oriented Programming and Design Patterns
  • Some experience with system profiling and performance tuning
  • Familiarity with the SDLC/Agile
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to converse directly with business stakeholders
  • An ability to be self-sufficient and proactive whilst working in a broader team
  • A degree or above in Computer Science, Mathematics and/or a relevant Engineering discipline.
Desirable
  • Deep knowledge of Securities Services and/or related businesses.
  • A track record of implementing well-designed user interfaces and data services.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML5 and core frameworks/libraries such as React.js
  • Working knowledge of Python
  • Operating Systems: Proficient at UNIX Solaris/Linux and Microsoft Windows). UNIX Shell Scripting
  • Working knowledge of distributed system design concepts
  • Familiarity with High Availability Design Concepts: Clustering and Failover
