*Business Function Group Legal, Compliance & Secretariat ensures that the banks interests are protected by zealously guarding and enhancing its reputation and capital. Because we believe that at the heart of business banking is to uphold the values of trust and integrity for all our stakeholders.Job PurposeTo provide legal support to Treasury and Markets Department ( T&M ) in India.Key Accountabilities

• Establish master agreements with counterparties of DBS to facilitate the foreign exchange and derivative activities of the Treasury & Markets division in India.
• To draft, review and negotiate custody related agreements, POA, Terms and Conditions, etc in relation to DBS s Custody related work in India
• To review and approve legal documents (including bank product and customer documentation) and to identify, advise on and manage legal risks associated with the operation of T&M and Custody.
• To work closely with Compliance, T&M, Custody team to ensure the relevant legal and regulatory requirements are well understood by T&M and Custody respectively and are reflected and protected in the relevant documentation and internal procedures.
• To recommend, supervise and manage external lawyers to ensure that high quality and focused advice is received at reasonable cost in a timely manner to appropriately protect bank s interests.
• To provide general legal advice, guidance and solutions on legal and regulatory issues to T&M and Custody

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate the master agreements, agreements pertaining to custody with external customers/counterparties.
• Carry out legal due diligence and authority and capacity check for the master agreements executed by DBS Bank India Limited with its counterparties.
• Review for internal clients and negotiate with external counterparties customer agreements (eg. brokerage, electronic trading, central clearing and vendor agreements).
• Review and/or prepare product termsheets for simple funded and unfunded products.
• Provide responsive, sound, coherent & consistent legal advice on legal, regulatory and contractual issues to internal clients (ie. front, middle and back offices of T&M, Custody).
• Work with the Compliance team to ensure effective interpretation and recommendations on regulations and policies affecting the business
• Establish, review and update internal rules, policies and guidelines to meet best practice regulatory and industry standards for the management of legal and documentary risks.

Required Experience

• Qualified lawyer with post qualification experience in T&M Legal commensurate with the required capabilities detailed above
• 10-12 years.
• Experience of commercial banking procedures and practice.
• Good academic grounding.

Education / Preferred QualificationsA Graduate with LLB/ LLM or other recognized legal degree with direct experience in banking or financial services industry related to T&M.Core Competencies

• Should be able to identify and forecast legal & compliance risks / rewards, in line with proposed business growth & find solutions.

Technical Competencies

• Extensive financial & technical knowledge of banking and commercial law
• Strong technical ability and ability to grasp new technical areas of law very quickly
• Knowledge on all related laws and regulations in India especially laws governing T&M products and derivatives RBI, SEBI, FEDAI, FIMDA, NSE, BSE, NSDL, CDSL, etc.
• Sound knowledge of the overall banking environment with specific emphasis to T&M, Custody and FPI Regulations.
• Must have overview of the applicability of various statutes/ laws applicable.

Work Relationship

• Close working relationship with all relationship managers, product owners & internal support functions to sign off and ensure compliance for all products & services offered by DBS India
• Establish a working relationship with Legal & Compliance team in Singapore
