Senior Application Support EngineerPosition Summary:This is a full time Senior Application Support Engineer position within the IP and Science business unit of Thomson Reuters. This position will be part of the Level 2 global support team. The Senior Application Support Engineer provides monitoring and support operations for customer facing applications. This position assists in all functions of maintaining a complex multi- tiered application which includes testing, implementation, and execution. This position will be responsible for overseeing production web and application performance, configuration and maintenance, application migrations, releases, incident response and trouble resolution. This position assists in the formulation of internal procedures and best practices for execution, configuration, standardization, and support of application. This person evaluates, analyzes, and resolves complex technical problems for external customers. Participation in a team environment is heavily relied upon, as is the ability to work independently. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESStrong Linux command line skills and network experience a mustConfiguration, maintenance, monitoring and support of Linux web applicationsApache web server administration/ configuration skillsApache Tomcat administration/ configuration/ performance skillsJava- based web applications administration/ configuration skillsKnowledgeable in relational database software and concepts, specifically Oracle, MYSQL, and PostgresExperience with supporting Cloud and SaaS applications and SSO a definite advantageFollow best practices in change control to support a highly available application environmentUses problem solving skills to resolve complex technical problems for external customersStrong application release automation experience or use automation tools such as CA Release Automation (formerly CA LISA), Jenkins, Puppet etcCan communicate (verbally and in written format) with internal customers and teams.Organize, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks and projects Provides 24x7 on- call support within a team rotation Occasional weekend or off- hours work requiredFlexible and easily adaptable to change.Perform other duties as assigned.
