ACE provides products, technologies and solutions that help our users get real time understanding of service and product health, perform real time monitoring, efficient troubleshooting and reduce TTD and TTR. This includes instrumenting the applications and systems to gather relevant metrics, logs and traces to help monitor the health of the system, use big-data and distributed system technologies to derive insights and machine learning to proactively forecast issues for preventative actions.We are looking for a Director of Engineering to drive innovation, empower and motivate a team of engineers in an agile environment. Your technical aptitude will be used to lead the team to create enterprise architecture designs, standard documentation, transition, and migration strategies. The team will draw on your past experience leading software engineering efforts, providing leadership direction, overseeing development projects, product definition through authoring engineering plans, epics and user stories, and overall team health and efficiency. Crafting a platform that enables internal users to understand, optimize, and re-envision how the business is and should operate is critical. Modern distributed systems (e.g. Spark, Presto), coupled with AI tech (e.g. Tensorflow and Juypter), custom data applications (e.g. a comprehensive data catalog and portal), and secure, reliable, and extensible platform on both data centers and public cloud, are a few of the key ingredients this team is weaving together to make this possible.We are defining the next generation of trusted enterprise computing in the cloud. We enable critical services for the business, qualify complex compute changes, enable big data analytics and trail-blaze new engineering solutions for the cloud.Responsibilities:

• Work with engineers on the design, deployment and continuous improvement of important infrastructure services
• Design and implement processes that would help streamline CI/CD systems for platform services on cloud
• Deploy, manage and maintain various tools within the UIP tech stack like Spark, Presto, cost management, monitoring, alerting, automation, etc
• Automate common administrative tasks and setup alerting mechanisms that notify team of critical status or failures
• Develop and own best practices/methodologies for provisioning, application deployments, configuration management, capacity planning, monitoring, etc. to improve organization-wide visibility into how distributed systems interact and perform in production
• Provide input into long-range platform requirements and operational guidelines, with a focus on automation and continuous improvement of Platform Service availability.
• Analyze and understand how stakeholders are using the platform and help drive continuous improvement of the offering based on that.
• Share daily operational responsibilities with the team
• Ensure that we are continuously raising our standard of engineering excellence by implementing best practices for coding, testing, and deployment
• Scoping of work, management of backlog and predictability of project delivery.

Required Skills:

• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 7 years work experience in a DevOps or similar role
• Fluency in one or more scripting languages such as Python/Shell Script/Go Lang.
• Experience designing, building, deploying systems with Containers (Docker) and Kubernetes.
• In-depth, hands-on experience with Linux, networking, server, and cloud architectures.
• Experience with deployment tools like Terraform, Spinnaker, configuration management tools such as Puppet or Ansible.
• Experience with AWS or GCP or another cloud PaaS provider.
• Solid understanding of how to configure, deploy, manage and maintain large cloud-hosted systems; including auto-scaling, monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting and disaster recovery.
• Proficiency with source control (Git,GitHub), continuous integration, and testing pipelines.
• Being a great listener, collaborator, communicator, and mentor.
• Championing a culture and work environment that promotes diversity and inclusion

Preferred Skills:

• Understanding of OO programming and concepts (Java, Python) is a plus.
• Experience in managing and administration of various tools like Tableau, Domino, Jenkins, Airflow, Interana, etc
• Experience with managing Hadoop and large-scale big data systems.
• Knowledge about cloud security and best practices.
• Deep understanding of fundamental network technologies like DNS, Load Balancing, SSL, TCP/IP, SQL, HTTP.

Education:

• MS in Computer Science or related field, or
• BS in Computer Science plus relevant job-related experience
