Job Description

Job SummaryResponsible for the R&D Director for researching, designing, and developing custom products for heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning manufacturing, and modifying existing products. This position requires advanced-level knowledge of solution chemistry and membrane technology, as well as experience of the design and testing of equipment. The Engineer will be responsible to work with other engineering groups to support the research, design, and testing of HVAC technologies and support product development activities.Job Responsibilities:

  • Take part in a design team, responsible for the development of new and innovative liquid desiccant, evaporative cooling, and other types of HVAC products.
  • Assist in the design of systems by specifying component attributes, system layout configurations, and control methods to achieve design objectives
  • Involve in the selection of components, as well as prepare material, cost, and timing estimates, reports, and design specifications.
  • Conduct experimental tests and analysis to prove the feasibility and performance of a part/product.
  • Prepares reports and presentations on designs and test results, as well as provides recommendations to the design team.
  • Maintain knowledge of new and advanced technologies and competitive products.
Job QualificationsExperience:
  • 2 to 5 years of engineering experience or a post-graduate degree in this area.
Knowledge:
  • A Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline is required.
  • A Masterss level of education or higher would be an asset.
  • Of solution chemistry including aqueous solutions, halide salt solutions, glycol solutions.
  • Of the measurement or calculation of solution properties including temperature, pressure, density, viscosity, concentration, conductivity, vapor pressure, specific heat, phase change, etc.
  • Of membrane including porous membrane, non-porous membrane, ion-exchange membrane.
  • Of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics for the design and selection of heat exchangers, hydronic circuits, system curves, pump selection.
  • Of experiment design, data analysis, and validation of analytical or numerical models with test data.
  • Knowledge of psychrometrics and the calculation of air treatment processes would be an asset.
  • Of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Special Skills and Abilities:
  • Self-motivated, capable of working on multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal/communication, organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work both in a group and individually
  • Analytical reasoning and creative abilities.
  • Ability to use ASHRAE and CEC reference materials to meet CSA, CEC, ETL, and UL requirements.
  • Must be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T).
