The Back End Web Developer will be responsible for design, creation, testing, and maintenance of API based and database driven web applications that will both drive our software engineering efforts and provide crucial control and reporting tools for our customers. Specific responsibilities include:Design and code new applications, databases, features and enhancements with an emphasis on clean and highly efficient code.Develop efficient relational database schemas and queries.Collaborate with the development, automation, and quality teams to increase productivity by enhancing our suite of internal web tools.Manage a stack of interacting technologies that comprise live, heavily utilized web applications.Guarantee uninterrupted service and performance for these applications.Derive trends and reports from rapidly growing databases.Implement new API methods that expose new system functionality to both internal users and customers in a consistent and secure fashion.Requirements Qualified candidates must be self driven, team oriented, and have a strong background delivering applications across the full spectrum of web development. The right candidate will be able to work in tandem with a Front End developer; so effective communication and collaboration is a must. More specific requirements include:Expertise in SQL, preferably MySQL5 years experience building complex, efficient PHP applicationsAn understanding of web API design principlesLinux proficiencyJavaScript competencyExperience with MapReduce based NoSQL database technologies (couchDB, MongoDB, etc.) a big plusPrevious work experience for a commercial software engineering company is a plusB.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent,
