Job Description

If English is your forte and editing is your passion, we are looking for Copy Editors with 3-5 Years of relevant experience. A person who has the zeal to learn and develop content in todayrsquos perspective keeping in mind the new developments and courses in the field of education will find this role a dream job. This role will ensure that the creative brilliance is used for presentable, user friendly and accurate Study Material which is to the point and correct.You will have to ensure that texts due for publication are well written, grammatically correct and accessible. They would need to work on a range of publications, including books, journals and IT-based resources.Responsibilities:

  • Working with databases, as well as via the internet, CD-ROMs or from paper manuscripts.
  • Liaisoning regularly with authors and publishers by phone and email.
  • Checking that authors have provided all the required materials and paperwork or develop content based on the subject syllabus.
  • Resolving queries directly with the author, e.g. style and text inconsistencies.
  • Corre cting spelling mistakes, syntax and grammatical errors.
  • Coding manuscripts for design features, such as hierarchy of headings etc. to instruct the production/ development team.
  • Creating artwork briefs to detail the content of illustrations.
  • Ensuring that illustrations are correctly captioned and referred to in the text
  • Producing or working to a style checklist to ensure consistency in hyphenation, capitalization, formatting of references, etc.
  • Sub-editing text written by a number of authors to ensure consistent house style.
  • Retrieving articles from archives and rearranging within publications.
  • Preparing preliminary pages for the title, contents and preface of a publication.
  • Overseeing the work of indexers, typesetters and designers.
  • Ensuring that publications are prepared on budget and to schedule;
Minimum Qualifications: Excellent English (written and oral) and communication skills.Good general knowledge, a curious mind and ability to work independently as well as a part of a team.Sound knowledge of grammar and syntax.Candidates from a publishing, content development, Editing or Academic Background (Preferably -Content Developer/Editor/Journalist/Ac ademician).Experienced -Graduate/Post graduates (10th/10 2/10 3) with minimum 36 months of work experience can apply.Technology /Internet savvy/Editing Tools.Willingness and initiative to complete all pending works and not sit back until asked for.Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Bachelorrsquos/Masterrsquos degree will be given preference.Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize.An ability to stay focused throughout an entire document, which may be long and technicalGood judgment, to gauge which changes are necessaryFamiliarity with the production process for books and documentsKeywords: Proof Reader, Editor, Content Writer, Media, Books Publishing.,
