Chief Quality Officer / Quality Executives Reporting the daily quality parameters and issues Bio Medical Engineers Calibration of equipment and problem reporting Insurance Coordinators Patient insurance approvals & other clarifications Doctors Assisting in examination of patients, procedures, Verification of orders. Lab/X-Ray Coordination regarding patient investigations & collecting reports Customer Service Executives Coordinate regarding patient flow Stores Receiving any communication regarding Indent of consumables and disposables. Pharmacy Communication regarding availability of any prescribed medicines Billing Clarification regarding finance approval before proceeding for any kind of clinical procedure or surgery for any patient and also at the time of discharge. External surveyors Answering to the questions being asked and supporting with evidences ObjectiveThe Staff Nurse in NICU is responsible for managing and supervising the care of the neonates experiencing life-threatening problems requiring complex assessment, high intensity therapies and interventions, and continuous nursing vigilance. Supports and educates the mother for caring the neonates and is also responsible for the orientation and induction of new Nurses in the neonatal ICU. Key Responsibilities 1 Principal Responsibilities Direct Patient CareDirect Patient Care based on Nursing Process: Assessment & Problem Identification Obtains & documents a patient assessment which incorporates all available data/information. Utilizes techniques of observation, interview, measurement and physical examination in making an assessment. Assesses family adaptation, coping skills and the need for crisis or other intervention. Identifies from assessment actual and potential problems in collaboration with patient family and senior nursing personnel. Planning Plans and document a nursing care plan using the nursing process. Plans priorities of nursing care. Updates the nursing care plan continually as patient status demands. Commences discharge planning as soon as it is feasible in co-operation with patient significant others. Reflects the same in written care plan. Implementation Delivers care using the nursing process, setting priorities in the delivery of care. Delegates and supervise nursing care delivered by junior Staff Nurses. Co-ordinates care delivered by other health professionals. Reports patient condition to appropriate personnel during each shift Provide family-centred care by communicating with the family regarding the changing health care needs of their family member. Evaluation Evaluates each shift aspect of nursing intervention and document. Revises care plans if outcomes cannot be met. Communicates evaluation and subsequent plan to babys family and healthcare team. 2 Human Resource ManagementTo participate in the performance appraisal of new Staff Nurses ( Peer Review). 3 Budgetary ManagementTo inform Nurse Manager/Head Nurse of malfunctioning equipment. To utilize resources effectively and efficiently. 4 Quality ImprovementTo participate in Nursing Quality Assurance programs. To encourage staff participation in unit-based Nursing Quality Improvement programs. To identify unsafe care practices and contribute to corrective action. Adheres to the hospital policies. Participates in the hospital quality improvement program. Maintains confidentiality of patients information. AM/HR/GE/O15-05 Adheres to the safety protocols of the hospital and ensures safety of the patients. Guides and supervises the work of nurse associate. Delegates tasks to the nurse associate and other health care assistants rationally. Works in accordance with the ISO, NABH and JCIA standards. Works collaboratively and support efforts of team members. Handles medico legal cases according to the organizations protocols. Follows strict infection control protocols and takes responsibility in ensuring quality control related to quality monitors Provides end of life care according to the culture of people Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interact effectively with physicians, patients, visitors, staff and the broader health care community5 Liaison and CommunicationTo support Hospital s policies and procedures. To attend nursing meetings on a regular basis. 6 Personal and ProfessionalTo participate in professional organizations. To maintain current trends in nursing practice and management through formal education and self development efforts. To maintain professional knowledge, skills and accept responsibility for own education and career development.
