  • Our team has a UX strategy to problem solving that involves human centred design methodologies. You will be responsible for getting familiar with these methodologies and applying them in your day to day job. This means understanding how to conduct ethnographic research through user interviews and behavioural studies. It entails gathering qualitative and quantitative data to inform your design thinking, where you provide validation for your decisions and demonstrate how it gets expressed through your UX and UI designs.
Business
  • Our team services the entire Enterprise Technology domain. This includes engaging in projects with teams that range from our internal innovation Lab to the API gateway team. You will have to learn how we operate, how the business works, and how UX and UI have an impact. You KPIs will vary depending on the projects you get involved in. This might include exploring how to bring efficiency to complex process, it might include understanding partner needs when deciding on an API to subscribe to.
ProcessesYou need to be familiar with human centred design methodology, such as mental model diagrams, journey maps, jobs-to-be-done, and comfortable running workshops with a team. You must be able to structure your time, and be capable of taking the initiative. Your delivery responsibilities span research, prototyping, testing, wireframes all the way to UI design where you need to engage with engineering teams to help them understand and build your designs. You will be responsible to:
  • Participate in UX activities including UX Research, UX and UI Design, and DesignOps Strategy
  • Design prototypes to test, and conduct testing and validation with them
  • Leverage our visual UI component assets from a standard component library
  • Meet with people in the Bank to understand the business context of the work we do, and understand how they think and work in order to better design experiences which support their activities
  • Work closely with engineering teams throughout the design process and support them as they execute your designs
People and Talent As a creative role in the Bank, you will also be responsible to help us:
  • Keep track and advocate for key trends in UX through new ways of working, new design paradigms, evolving consumer behaviours, and modern design tools
  • Organize and participate in activities to help our team grow and advance our knowledge
  • Pursue learning both on the job and outside of work
Risk Management
  • Our team is responsible for delivering quality tool and service design, that is meant to enable colleagues and customers. In doing so, we must be careful with data management and play our part in ensuring we protect it and that our designs take this into consideration. Risk management is interwoven in our design activities and you will need to ensure that risk is always a consideration throughout your design process all the way to delivery.
Governance
  • Our team leads the Design Community of Practice, we inform design governance decisions in the Bank. As part of our responsibility, we must oversee areas such as career progression, mentorship, tooling, support, and more. It will be your responsibility to support and participate in these activities. Primarily, in knowledge sharing from the research that you conduct, and in advocating for design best practices.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • 3-5 years relevant experience and track record of success in researching and designing digital projects
  • Experience running projects where you have taken research data, used it to build and test a prototype, then designed the wireframes and then the UI, and worked with an engineering team to build and deliver it
  • Degree in a relevant design discipline such as product, graphic or communications design
  • A passion for creating products and services that resonate emotionally with people
  • A proven ability to solve problems and make balanced judgments / decisions are essential to this role
