Job Description

    Mintel, one of the world s leading market intelligence agencies, is in search of an experienced insights leader for its India and Thailand Reports team, with a focus on beauty and personal care topics. Mintel Reports are syndicated market intelligence reports, synthesizing primary and secondary data to provide insights and a forward-looking perspective on the industry. A key part of the report is identifying important local and global trends (and why) and discussing the business implications for the India market.Based in either Mintel s Mumbai or Bangkok office, the Associate Director will ideally have experience working for a BPC manufacturer/brand or a research/marketing strategy firm in the Beauty and Personal Care markets in India or Thailand. When travel restriction ease the incumbent will need to be able to travel on occasion to these markets.Key Responsibilities: This role is a leadership position for the Beauty and Personal Care reports analyst team, who are currently based in Thailand and India. It includes responsibilities for the management and development of the analysts; responsibility for the on-time delivery of the annual report schedule (40 reports/year); maintaining and constantly increasing the quality of our reports while working to evolve and shape the product in response to client needs.Content delivery:
    • Ensure high and increasing quality for category-related content, from questionnaires, data analysis, innovation and trends to writing/editing the full report
    • Maintain a consistent level of performance in all reports including tone of voice and quality of insights
    • Working with the analysts to ensure that reports are produced in a timely manner and to the highest standard
    • Add strong insights and points of view to every client deliverable, demonstrating our category knowledge and research expertise with implication-driven, cross-category, timely-relevant and bold business insights
    • Pick up and cover the writing of Beauty and Personal Care reports if needed
    • Receive and manage client requests for report debriefs
    Team management:
    • Oversee the Beauty and Personal Care analysts (currently 2 people in India and 2 in Thailand), with team responsibilities including professional development and administration, such as HR and recruitment
    • Provide mentoring and support to analysts, strengthen their analytical skills, later thinking, consumers, category & market expertise. Develop them to become bold and opinionate experts and confident presenters in front of clients and media
    • Build an extremely collaborative team culture and establish best practice processes at work
    • Look for ways to optimize and simplify the workload
    Matrix management:
    • Ensuring the local country leads and commercial teams (India and Thailand) are consulted and updated for reports progresses or issues and client work.
    • Working closely with CRDA (Consumer Research Data Analysis) to make sure we have the best in class research processes and questionnaires.
    • Gaining inspirations and identifying best practices by working closely to the other verticals (ie. Food & Drinks and Lifestyle Reports teams)
    • Seeking collaboration with Content Platform analysts & other Reports teams across APAC and globally
    Commercial support and thought leadership:
    • Build a reputation of expertise for the Beauty and Personal Care team across Mintel s clients and the wider industry
    • Oversee (& on occasion, lead) client work that can demonstrate Mintel s thought leadership in the category, leveraging all Mintel resources as relevant to the client
    • Maintain a commitment to developing your knowledge and expertise in your vertical, ie. Beauty & Personal Care. Use this knowledge when coaching and developing your team.
    • Be one of the leading roles (eg presentation, key panel member) at Mintel events
    • Represent Mintel to the media on key topics
    Report development:
    • Ensure high relevancy and impact of the produced content by understanding client needs and keeping constant information flow with commercial teams
    • Work with a diverse group of stakeholders (eg Senior content teams, commercial leaders, CRDA, marketing team, global product development team, etc) to review opportunities that would help Mintel Reports deliver the best possible value to clients and prospects
    Who we are looking for:
    • At least 5 years proven expertise in a relevant research, marketing, shopper or consumer insights, branding or consulting role within the consumer products and/or services space
    • Ability to identify meaningful patterns in data, and understand what these patterns mean for consumers and brands. Ideally, some sort of experience working with syndicated sales data and syndicated consumer research
    • At least 5 years managing multiple projects and tight deadlines
    • At least 3 years coaching a team
    • Strong knowledge of the India and/or Thailand markets and beauty and personal care categories
    • Excellent English communication and presentation skills
    • Overseas studying and working experience would be a plus (a bachelor s degree is preferred)
