Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB The Dealer on the Metals Desk is responsible for offering Bullion physical and derivative products to defined customer segments of the bank.The role s objective is :

  • Ensure business unit and revenue delivery as per the plan. Focus on profitability by maintaining appropriate margins on Physical premiums, Metal Price, Dollar INR.
  • Effective handling of customer flows, order book management.
  • Increase market and wallet share of Bullion business for the customers covered
  • Managing treasury stock
  • Focus on fulfillment of all treasury transactions in adherence to the Bank s processes and policies
  • Take care of all system/process related issues on the desk.
  • Liaison with Bullion operations for resolving transaction related issues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESFinancial Objective
  • Achieve the budgeted Revenue and Volume target at the customer and segment level for the customers allocated.
  • Maximize revenue for the desk by ensuring appropriate spreads are maintained over premium, metal prices and Dollar INR prices.
  • Maximize revenue from by capturing opportunities on customer flows in terms of pricing,orders ,Gold forward /USD INR rollbacks and rollover.
  • Improving the top line and bottom line by managing treasury stock.
  • Increase Bullion Buisness Wallet share of the customers.
Relationship Management external and internal
  • Direct coverage of customers more at the operating level of the customer.
  • Build relationships at the relevant levels of the customers and leverage the relationships for enhanced business. The customers allocated to this role would be mostly simple customers with more transactional requirement, rather than hedging requirements.
  • Build relationships with overseas Bullion Banks and Suppliers.
  • Manage the internal stake holders, viz. relationship managers in various Business groups, credit risk officers, Operations, etc. other units of treasury to achieve the objectives.
Internal Processes
  • Ensure fulfillment of all transactions in the given TAT, , while adhering to the process and policies of the Bank.
  • Hedging of all positions arising out of the transactions covered
  • Capturing all transactions in all the front office systems of the bank as per the policy
  • Follow the process of Suitability and Appropriateness policy of the Bank and adhere to the pre-defined processes
Management and Risk mitigation
  • Effectively Manage price risk when quoting to customers.
  • Evaluate the Reputational and Legal Risk for the Bank on product offerings to customers in line with suitability and appropriateness policy
Skill Requirements
  • 1. Aptitude and attitude to financial markets. A good understanding of Domestic and International Bullion Markets.
  • 2. Treasury product knowledge, including knowledge about pricing .Adequate knowledge of markets, with ability to interpret these data and use it for business opportunities
  • 3. Compliance and TAT orientation
  • 4. Eagerness to learn
  • 5. Good communication skills
  • 6. Strong analytical and mathematical acumen, data interpretation skills
  • 7. Good Relationship skills and sales management skills with a focus on customer delight
