Job Description

    *Role Responsibilities Financial Markets Middle Office provides value added services to the global FM business across US, Europe and Asia. Collectively we:
    • Enable: We contribute to increased Sales & Trading productivity through effective trade and post trade operational support
    • We are trusted advisors for the business and take responsibilities for front to back trade exception management and resolution
    • Protect: We are responsible or the correct risk representation at point of capture and throughout the trade lifecycle
    • We are product specialists and ensure new products and new business opportunities are effectively operationalized
    • Improve: We adopt a continuous improvements mindset and strive to reduce Cost per Transaction through continuously challenging the status quo
    • We focus on Trade Capture STP improvement to mitigate fraud and operational risk and deliver scalable services back to the business.
    • Connect: We are accountable and responsible for all T0 activities and act as a conduit between Front Office and the other enablement ad operation teams
    • We act as a Global Team and communicate clearly and with respect in line with SCB values
    Role Responsibilities: Objectives specific to the position:
    • Lead the Mumbai Middle Office team in line with the Global Middle Office operating standards in order to support and enable the local business growth aspirations
    • Ensure effective due diligence in the migration process is enforced prior to go live date of new activities
    • Ensure alignment with the Global Middle Office 3 years strategic roadmap, the bank simplification and re-platforming agenda and growth strategy
    • Lead and represent Middle Office in strategic programmes to enable the bank to meet regulatory objectives and simplification targets.
    • Drive global consistency and transparency through the Global Middle Office by defining and enforcing a clear, well defined and globally consistent catalogue or services
    • Represent the group in Ops Risk forums and Audit / governance committees
    • Monitor, set, and achieve established department goals during day-to-day operations as well as serve as point of escalation for complex issues and manage resolution of issues and new business request
    • Face of Operations to local Desk Heads single point of contact:
    • Stakeholder Management to include Global Head of FMO and the FMO Management Team, Local and Global Business COOs and Heads of Trading across the Macro and Credit Trading Businesses, Market Risk, Legal, Compliance and Technology.
    • Insulate FM from post execution processing / queries, represent Operations functions
    • Build team profile with the Front Office
    • Stakeholder engagement, 2-way flow of information Trusted Advisor
    • People Management ensure effective people management with specific focus on:
    • Performance Review: hold 1-2-1 and skip line meetings and promote a speak up culture within the team
    • Engagement: listen to the voice of the team and foster a one team culture
    • Mentoring and Coaching: grow people and talents through open conversations, clear and direct feedback and active performance management
    • Hiring and onboarding of new talent within the bank
    • New business enablement and solutions, partner to deliver strategic FM initiatives:
    • Drive Operational readiness for new business areas
    • Lead the booking model design for new products
    • Lead strategic planning process with business units and prioritize business development requirements to completion
    • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firms reputation and safeguarding Standard Chartered, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
    Well Managed Business and Cost Optimization
    • Oversight and Cost management of an annual budget
    • Ensure alignment with broader FMO objectives around cost optimization through:
    • Intelligent use of location strategy (leveraging on the FMMO Centre of Excellence in India and Malaysia)
    • Definition of Change levers to enable strategic cost transformation (Automation, replatforming, outsourcing etc)
    • Monitor Profit and Loss (P&L), expense managements, budget, and planning
    • Active industry leadership and steer with global view:
    Peer analysis
    • Industry group participation
    • Operations representation for external/internal and regulator scheduled audits:
    • Ensure Audit points are addressed within timelines
    • Drive continuous improvement and innovate:
    • Partner with Technology to deliver transformation
    • Work with FO to identify booking model improvements and drive efficiency
    • Own the Risk Capture STP% metrics for the Macro business and define a road map for improvements
    • Lead the Change agenda for the Macro Middle Office team through both Continuous Improvements (Run the Bank) and Strategic Investment Ask (Chance the Bank)
    • Achieve regulatory compliance and future proof the Global Middle Office model through a strong understanding of current rules and anticipation of upcoming regulations
    • Adherence to Ops Risk Framework standards of implementation and process management:
    • Continuous review of procedures and booking model
    • Continuous management of process taxonomy and service catalogue
    • Lead and support yearly completion of RCSA (Risk and Control Self-Assessment)

    Our Ideal Candidate Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
    • University degree preferred
    Required Experience:
    • Proven track record of managing high performing global teams and client delivery
    • Deep understanding of Financial Markets business and front to back Operational processes
    • Domain expert of Derivatives and Cash products including characteristics, risk, market data and P&L.
    • Industry connectivity and awareness of latest industry developments, including Regulatory direction
