Job Description

    *Role Responsibilities We are looking to hire a skilled Hadoop developer to help build big data infrastructure and storage software. Your primary responsibility will be to design, build, and maintain Hadoop infrastructure. You may also be required to evaluate existing data solutions, write scalable ETLs, develop documentation, and train staff. To ensure success as a Hadoop developer, you should have in-depth knowledge of Hadoop API, high-level programming skills, and the ability to project manage. Ultimately, a top-class Hadoop developer designs and implements bespoke Hadoop applications to manage current and future Big Data infrastructures.
    • Meeting with the development team to assess the Bank s big data infrastructure.
    • Designing and coding Hadoop applications to analyse data collections.
    • Good knowledge of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
    • Creating data processing frameworks.
    • Extracting data and isolating data clusters.
    • Testing scripts and analysing results.
    • Troubleshooting application bugs.
    • Maintaining the security of company data.
    • Creating data tracking programs.
    • Producing Hadoop development documentation.
    • Good knowledge in back-end programming, specifically java, JS, Node.js and OOAD.
    • Knowledge in scripting language Using Java, Python, Jason.
    • Hands on experience in Hive SQL.
    • Familiarity with data loading tools like Paxata, Data-IQ.
    • Training staff on application use.
    Works closely with
    • FCSO Process Heads and Managers, who manage key FCC processes like Name Screening, Transaction Screening and Transaction Monitoring.
    • FCC Data Managers, who define the teams business requirements, objectives, strategy and priorities.
    • FCC Data Engineers, who design and implement the processes by which data is collected and generated.
    • Upstream data teams, who provide the data that the analyst is sourcing.
    • Downstream Process Owners, who depend on the data to perform their business function.

    • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
    Our Ideal Candidate
    • A Master s degree in Analytics, Computer Science, or Data Science; Mathematics or in a related field and 7-10 years of industry experience in data analysis using Big Data technologies.
    • 7-10 years of industry experience as a Business / Data Engineer with 3 - 5 experience in data analysis using tools such as SQL and HSQL and big data architecture using MAPI.
    • Certification in any of the Data Analytics / Science , AI is desirable. SQL and relational database knowledge are required for the data engineer position in the financial sector especially in financial crime compliance domain.
    • An advanced data management Programming techniques with extensive experience.
    • Understanding of Scripting experience in (Python, Perl, JavaScript, Shell); Practical knowledge of data in various forms (data warehouses / SQL, unstructured data environments / PIG,HIVE, Impala, Think cell and pivot tables in Excel); Familiarity with BI reporting tools (i.e. MicroStrategy, Tableau and Business Objects is an added advantage).
    • The data engineer must be able to work well under pressure and achieve results within the scheduled timeframe.
    • The role of a data engineer involves working with people and managing junior team of analysts. It is crucial that they have exceptional writing and verbal communication skills to perform their job duties and manage others.
