Why this role matters The GMV Access Network Design Specialist is an essential role responsible to deliver the overall access network designs for One Voice and Inbound Contact Global product lines. Specifically this role is accountable for: Driving efficiency and scalability through the re-use of network designs and ongoing in-life operation of designs across the overall network platform and/or customer solution. Typically leading a matrix (virtual) team of technical experts to deliver network design solutions and provide technical thought leadership to a larger matrix team. The sphere of influence for the matrix team will be from a technical perspective. Acting as a technical ambassador for the company and providing expert technical consulting to customers at a platform and/or overall solution level. Deciding on design scope and design of the overall access network platform and/or customer solution, as well as estimating the time and type of resource needed to support the deliverables with increasing cost impact and time duration. The role protects voice infrastructure revenues in excess of 500 M. The OneVoice and Inbound Contact Global products provides IP based bulk telephony communications to global medium and large sized corporate companies, and integrates to key BT IP Centrex platforms and customer IP PBXs. This enables key sectors of the economy to communicate and supports banks, finansial institutions, travel companies, mining industry, oil industry, food, utilities, leading tech companies etc. and being a PSTN replacement service emergency calling is supported. What youll be doing Design leadership to enhance the capabilities of the OneVoice and Inbound Contact Global products with new features and improved performance to enable the SIP Trunking product to be class leading. This will be done via leading on key Designs, supporting existing Designs and supporting handover to Test activities in relation to the platform and its related platforms e.g. Session Border Controllers, media gateway controllers, media gateways and application servers. Responsible for managing and supporting the interface to technical teams outside of Voice Infrastructure, including OSS design and test, Security Support the technical interface to the supplier, ensuring that all developments are delivered to the expected scope, cost and quality. Lead feasibility studies, functional and non-functional designs, providing technical guidance as appropriate across the voice organisation Responsible for production of high and low level design documentation as appropriate including initial settings - prior to test entry quality gate as defined in delivery plan Managing peer reviews and providing sign off authority on designs associated with network components within network platforms and/or customer solutions Take technical lead in resolution of any significant in-life service affecting issues Lead the ongoing definition of the SIP-T platform roadmap, ensuring engagement with all stakeholders in Technology and Product Line. Ensure that designs are progressed in line with Delivery plan, and any issues are flagged to the Delivery manager. Support resolution of any issues to keep delivery on track. Highlight any design risks encountered. Manage resolution of risks. Lead on Engineering Integrity and architecture conformance. Mentor and share knowledge with others, and be an advanced user of design tools. You will also be responsible forPeople Lead a small matrix team as appropriate across Design and Test to ensure they are trained and directed to design and test SBC related deliveries appropriately Driving efficiency and cost reduction through defining Brilliant and Simple requirements to the supplier and other BT systemsQuality Ensuring rigorous and highly available solutions to underpin the highly available requirements of our VoIP services. Delivery Design and drive improved working processes Application of Design best practise to domain, and interlock with design and delivery plans across all related systems and teams. Well also need to see these on your CV The OneVoice and Inbound Contact Global products will possess a thorough knowledge of the voice networks, OSS and technologies that interact with the OneVoice and ICG, for example SDIN and Core networks and interconnects. They will also have a good understanding of associated standards and industry initiatives that relate to the existing service and its evolution. Other specifics for the role include thorough knowledge of SIP protocol Ribbon SBCs Stakeholder and Vendor Management Ability to engage with Stakeholders and Vendors at an appropriate level to ensure necessary business results can be attained. Problem solving Proven ability to solve complex problems in a controlled and systematic manner, analysing the available data to make the correct business decesions taking responsible risks when appropriate. Coaching and Mentoring Experience of coaching and mentoring others for peak performance Financial Management Understands overall cost to business for decisions made, has a good working knowledge of different types of budgets and inputs to business cases Process improvement / Management Works across teams to identify changes to processes and procedures to enable faster delivery or better business outcomes.
